"If a place can be defined as relational, historical and concerned with identity, then a space which cannot be defined as relational, or historical, or concerned with identity will be a non-place."
It depends on the perspective of the person if it is a non-place or not. Non-places are designed in a way to enhance our sense of both atomization and anonymity

Concept Schiphol Bridge
Bridges reduce the gap between people, cultures, bridge time and history.
Several famous bridges all over the world:
• Golden Gate Bridge• Brooklyn Bridge• Tsing Ma Bridge• Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge• Clifton Suspension Bridge• Storbaelt• Schiphol Bridge
All these bridges have one main thing in common: connecting people, countries and cultures!

Golden Gate Bridge
Storbaelt
Nowadays people use Schiphol as an “entrance to the world”. We want to make Schiphol a “Bridge to the world”
A bridge consists of two ends: depart and arrival, from A to B.
The bridge is placed in the departure terminal where people wait before boarding.
Schiphol Bridge is all about leaving travelers marks.
Leaving marks, photos and footprints
Photos and footprints• Create & transfer emotions • Create an ‘organized chaos’ No actual preset patterns. The environment is no longer ‘clean’ and ‘sterile’

Appearance
• biological• acquired
In this concept appearance relates to the perception element of the cultural determinants
Perception
• Important• Unimportant
If a person has some recognizing (with his own culture) during the perception there is more change to be rated as important and be memorized.
