Thirst for communications Mobile data usage is exploding

3G  networks  can  not  cope  with  the  current  demand,  complimentary  WiFi  services    provide  a  solu:on  to  rich  media  connec:vity.  4G  now  delayed  un:l  2013  at  the  earliest.  

–  Over  25%  of  the  UK  populaMon  owns  a  smartphone,  50%  by  mid  2012.    

–  32mil  smart  phones/tablets  in  the  UK  today  rising  to  45mil  next  year.  

–  Mobile  data  transferred  over  UK  mobile  networks  increased  by  67%  in  2010.    

–  An  average  smartphone  generates  10x  more  traffic  than  non  smartphones.    

–  66%  of  the  world’s  mobile  data  traffic  will  be  video  by  2014.    

–  Almost  10  billion  apps  have  been  downloaded  from  iPhone  apps.  

–  57%  of  mobile  internet  users  visit  social  networking  sites,  making  it  the  most  popular  acMvity  ahead  of  sending/receiving  emails  (53  per  cent).    

Over one in five people now expect  free  WiFi  to be available in any venue they visit
