The official publication of

Message from the President September 2016
There comes a time when Autumn asks,
“What have you been doing all summer?”
To quote one of my favorite movies, it has been a “long hot summer” but respite from the heat will soon be
here. I have enjoyed my summer but am now ready for the activities of Newcomers to fill my calendar.
The first of many things that have occurred over July and August include a new streamlined website. The
new website has many of the same features but the board feels it is easier to navigate for members and easier
to find information for prospective members. It is necessary for all members to ask for WEBSITE ACCESS.
Once given, you will be able to access the Member Services area. If you should misplace your newsletter, it
will be easy to double check for your interest group meetings since the newsletters will be available at any
time. The member directory will also appear under Member Services. It is very important that you check
your name and information for accuracy and notify Sue Levy of any errors or changes.
We have received several suggestions for new interest groups from antiques to quilting. Later in this
letter you will find a listing of possible interest groups, a brief description of each and the contact information.
The board hopes that at least one of these ideas will strike your fancy.
Finally, mark your calendars for our Holiday Party scheduled for Friday December 9 at the Wakefield
Country Club. More information on the party specifics will be found in the fall newsletters.
Diana Goodall, Jinny Sweetman, Phyllis Rosenbaum and Susan Ragan have been working diligently on the
directory. We hope to mail it in early September. Due to the increased cost of printing and mailing, one
directory only will be sent to each household.
Enjoy the final days of summer. I hope to see you all at the September 2 coffee.
Regards,
Anita Timbrook

Interest groups are the spirit of the Newcomers Club. It is in the small-group atmosphere
that we connect and build relationships. Please RSVP to the interest group chair or
host by the date requested. If you need to cancel a reservation, please notify your
host as soon as possible as there may be a waiting list of others who would like to
participate. For groups that meet at members’ homes, please do not park on lawns or in
places that block mailboxes or garbage collection.
