Thiscourseisdesignedfortherapistswhowantamorecompleteunderstandingofneuro-oncologicalprocessesandhowtheyaffectclinicaldecisionsinrehabilitation.Thecontentexploresrehabilitationimplicationssurroundingtheassessmentandtreatmentofbrainandspinetumorsandtheneurotoxiceffectsonemayexperienceundergoingchemotherapy.

Neuroanatomyandtumorhistologyarereviewedwiththeintenttodescribehowthesefactorsinfluenceprognosisandtreatment.Discussionsarebasedonpeer-reviewedliteratureanddeliveredinacasestudyformat.Participantsareencouragedtoreflectontheircurrentknowledgeandbecomeactivelearnersbyengaginginacasestudy.

Informationandhandoutsareprovidedonreducingfallriskinthosediagnosedwithnervoussystemtumorsorchemotherapy-inducedperipheralneuropathy.Attheendofthecourse,participantswillhaveaframeworkinwhichtohelpmakeimportantclinicaldecisions.Theywillbeabletoassess,interveneandultimatelyhelpthosewhoareexperiencingcomplex,oftendistressing,diagnoses.
