Chris Stott,

Professional Officer, Naace

Naace Conference, 8 March 2013

A little history

2001: Cambridgeshire and Naace develop framework 2003: NaaceMark for schools 2006: Self-review Framework & ICT Mark 2010: SRF fully revised 2012: New tool and small revision 2012: 3rd Millennium Learning Award

Why people use the SRF

The SRF can help a school decide:

• Where you are in your whole school improvement

and ICT development • How well you are doing compared to others • Where you want to go – aspirations • What good looks like and how you can achieve it • What actions to prioritise • Where you may need support

Steering Committee

Teachers

The Elements

1. Leadership and management 2. Curriculum planning 3. Teaching and learning 4. Assessment of ICT capability 5. Professional development 6. Resources

ICT Mark

Optional accreditation:

Self-review Framework at level 2 and above

ICT Mark- why bother?

• Assessor visit • External view • Reassurance for stakeholders • Reward for school • Public recognition

…but my school is already excellent with ICT…

…and in any case ICT has been disapplied so it

is less important now!

What next?

3rd Millennium Learning Award

Focus is learning where technology is assumed and

embedded.

Dimensions of learning

• Teacher dependent learning changing to self-directed, lifelong and personalised learning.

• Schools following externally imposed approaches to teaching and learning changing to schools deciding themselves what are the most appropriate approaches for their pupils and community.

• Learning as something that happens in individual schools, classrooms and people changing to learning that uses connections with other people to a far greater extent.

How do schools gain the Award?

• Promotional video • Commentary

Submissions evaluated by other

schools/academies and awarded by Naace
