WorldHistoryandGeography:EarlyCivilizationsthroughtheDeclineoftheRomanEmpire(5thcenturyC.E.)CourseDescription:SixthgradestudentswillstudythebeginningofearlycivilizationsthroughthefalloftheRomanEmpire.Studentswillstudythegeographical,social,economic,andpoliticalfoundationsforearlycivilizationsprogressingthroughtheRomanEmpire.Theywillanalyzetheshiftfromnomadicsocietiestoagriculturalsocieties.Studentswillstudythedevelopmentofcivilizations,includingtheareasofMesopotamia,Egypt,India,China,AncientIsrael,Greece,andRome.Thestudyofthesecivilizationswillincludetheimpactofgeography,earlyhistory,culturaldevelopment,andeconomicchange.Thegeographicfocuswillincludethestudyofphysicalandpoliticalfeatures,economicdevelopmentandresources,andmigrationpatterns.ThesixthgradewillconcludewiththedeclineandfalloftheRomanEmpire.Thiscoursewillbethefirstconcentratedstudyofworldhistoryandgeographyandwillutilizeappropriateinformationaltextsandprimarysources.
