the English II EOC test from17.5% to 22.7% in the students with disabilities subgroup.

3. MCHS will increase the percentage of students scoring proficient/advanced on

the Algebra I EOC test from 60.5% to 63% in the racial subgroup.

4. MCHS will increase the percentage of students scoring proficient/advanced on the English II EOC test from 43.4% to 46.9 in the racial subgroup.

5. MCHS will increase the percentage of students scoring proficient/advanced on

the Algebra I EOC test from 63.1% to 65.5% in the economically disadvantaged subgroup.

6. MCHS will increase the percentage of students scoring proficient/advanced on

the English II EOC test from 44.6% to 48.1% in the economically disadvantaged subgroup.

Other Required Goal Areas:

2. MCHS will increase the overall ACT composite score from 18.3% to 19.3%.

3. MCHS will improve its overall proficient/advanced percentage from 22% to 25% on the Algebra II EOC test.

Key strategies to achieve goals:

1. All teachers of EOC courses will develop a notebook containing test preparation

materials.

2. Teachers of EOC tested courses will be required to maintain data notebooks in order to demonstrate students’ areas of greatest strength and weakness.

3. The school will continue to provide teachers with training in strategies that use

technology to foster student learning.

4. The school will give a mock ACT exam and the results will be analyzed to guide instruction.

5. The school will expand the amount of technology and training available to all

EOC teachers.

! $!

6. The school will utilize an AYP Coach to improve language arts and math instruction and to support struggling learners.

7. The school will maintain a student advisory period to provide time for teacher interventions and allow students additional time to master content.

8. The teachers and administrators will engage in professional development opportunities to increase student achievement.

9. Teachers of EOC classes will utilize assessments in Discovery Learning, iStation, and Compass Learning, along with other assessment tools, to determine students' areas of greatest need.

10. The school will offer elective ACT English and Math courses both within the regular school schedule and outside the regular school day, provide ACT/PLAN prep materials and resources for classroom use, and expand the amount of technology supplies available in ACT/PLAN tested areas.

11. The school will monitor grades and mentor students who are falling behind academically, while also offering advisory period, recovery lab, summer school, and other remedial programs and opportunities.

13. The school will provide teachers with materials and resources to assist students in the mastery of EOC and Common Core State Standards.

Key strategies to achieve progress for students with the greatest need:

1. Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) will meet during regularly scheduled common planning times with specific objectives and a system of accountability in place.

2. Formative assessments will be used consistently in each tested area to determine students’ areas of mastery and deficiency.

3. English classes will provide opportunities to critique and evaluate essays based

on sample essays from the state website.

4. Constructed responses will be required in all subject areas to prepare students for common core assessments.

5. Students will be encouraged to take advantage of remedial and enrichment

opportunities: after-school tutoring, advisory period assistance, ACT workshops, and other onsite academic activities.

Benchmarks for Progress

Benchmark: Timeline: Each department will review and learn all content required for EOC and common core standards.

Department meetings will be held monthly to review progress. AYP coach will be available to assist teachers who need support.

PLC teams will meet cooperatively to prepare lesson plans and select materials. Teachers will identify students who need intervention.

PLC teams will meet weekly throughout the school year.

Data team meetings will be held to identify trends in school data and strategies to address student progress.

The school data team will meet monthly throughout the school year.

Discovery Education assessments that align with English II and Algebra I standards will be administered. The data from these assessments will be used to determine tutoring and other student needs.

Discovery assessments will be administered twice a year, once in November and again in March.

The teachers and administrators will research the best practices for improvement.

This will be done throughout the entire school year.

Tennessee School Improvement Planning Process

(TSIPP)

Assurance Page

I, Mark Neal, principal of Millington Central High School, give assurance that this Title I

School-wide Plan was developed during a one-year period with parents and other

members of the community. This plan is available to the local educational agency,

parents, and the public.

The intent and purpose of each federal categorical program is included. When

appropriate there is coordination with programs under Reading First, Early Reading

First, Evan Start, Carl D. Perkins Vocational Act, and Head Start.

High Priority Schools Only ____________________ School is on the “high priority” list. Therefore, I understand

that I must spend not less than 10% of Title I funds for professional development.
