Myth: Millennials are self-centered because they’re “digital natives” who create curated

online personas

While all generations have experienced technological advances, the sheer amount of computational power and access to information that Millennials have

had at their fingertips since grade-school is unparalleled.

Millennials are more connected to technology than previous generations and 25% of Millennials believe that their relationship to technology is what makes their generation unique.

But they are not driven by technology, but rather see it as a tool to unlimited possibilities.

Millennials prefer to live in an area with a strong sense of community and volunteerism and more public services.

Yet, despite these

challenges, Younger

Americans are among the most

optimistic of any group in the

poll.

Myth: Millennials have no work ethic because they delay settling into one career

Millennials view the workplace through the same lens of new technology as any other aspect of their

lives: instant, open and limitless.

Innovation & Entrepreneurship are top priorities

Millennials view cognitive diversity as a necessary element for innovation, and are 71% more likely

to focus on teamwork.

1) Not to be measured by hours at a location, but by the output of what you do

2) Want to invest time acquiring the skills and knowledge they need to grow both personally and professionally

3) Place great importance on social causes and sense of purpose

Work for Millennials:

“You work for some years at something, but it’s really just a job. In two to five years you end up moving on.”

Millennials want to enjoy what they do.

Myth: Millennials have delayed adolescence because they’re not getting married

Millennials value parenthood over marriage.

Millennials are less likely than older generations to link marriage with parenthood. About a third of Millennials (34%) think that more unmarried

couples raising children is a bad thing for society, compared with 45% of those ages 30 and older.

Just over half (51%) of all births among Millennials in 2008 were to unwed mothers, compared with just under four-in-ten (39%) among Gen Xers in 1997, when they were the same age

that Millennials are now.

Young adults today are slower to marry than were their counterparts in older generations. Just 22% of Millennials are

currently married, but they 70% want to get married eventually.

Declining “I Do’s”

Millennials are less likely than their elders to have grown up in intact families.

Millennials believe the top three qualities:

1) Being a good father/mother2) Being caring and compassionate3) Putting his/her family before anything

else

Being a:- Good sexual partner, -Being well educated and -Providing a good income,

not viewed as important.
