It was inaugurated on October 1st, 2005, as a special facility forresearch and education. It aims through international education andresearch to nurture human resources contributing towards and topromote globalization on campus and in the community. In addition,CIER plays an key role in carrying out international activities.

Our partnership has expended to 116 universities/ institutions in 37countries/areas, conducting mutual exchange activities andinternational collaborative research.

Thai Students’ Association in Japan under the Royal Patronage has a long history of 76 years holdingabout 1,000 Thai students all over Japan. A graduate student of Mie University, was taking a role ofrepresentative for the 72nd to the 74th as the Mie Prefecture’s head. Currently, a student of MieUniversity is taking over the role for the 75th head. There are several events all through the year. InApril: Awarding Ceremony for the appointment of heads; in May: Thai Festival in Tokyo, Osaka andNagoya; in November: Thai-Japan Conference. They actively enhance our friendship between Thaiand Japan through cultural events and being a bridge for our strong bond. In addition, Old JapaneseStudents’ Association, Kingdom of Thailand was established in January, 1966, supporting alumninetworks and students who wish to study in Japan.

Our Philosophy

The Center for International Education and Research

This is an academic seminar for students to enhance their international experiences, which is held every year at one of the three founderuniversities (Mie University, Chiang Mai university in Thailand, and Jiangsu University in china) in turn since 1994. Bogor AgricultureUniversity, Indonesia, was newly added as one of the host universities from 2011.

In 2018, the 25th Seminar & Symposium was held at Chiang Mai University. At the conference, students from invited universitiespresent their research papers in English on the themes of “Population, food, Energy and Environment to Sustainable Society”.

Mie University Honor Student Scholarship for Privately Financed International StudentsIn 2019, Mie University will launch its original scholarship system with the aim of accepting outstanding international students. It includes full exemption of admission and tuition fees during the standard years of graduate study.The expected number of scholarship students for the 2019 academic year is 12 (2 students for each of the 6 graduate schools)
