Dear Colleague,
We are pleased to inform you that the School of Microbiology, MahatmaGandhi National Institute of Research and Social Action (MGNIRSA) isorganizing the National Conference on “Nanobiotechnology: EmergingTrends and Applications in Microbiology” from 4th- 6th February, 2011.
Nanobiotechnology is the branch of nanotechnology with biological andbiochemical applications. It is often used to describe the overlappingmultidisciplinary activities associated with biosensors particularly wherephotonics, chemistry, biology, biophysics nanomedicine and engineeringconverge. Measurement in biology using for example, waveguidetechniques such as dual polarisation interferometry is one example.Another example of current nanobiotechnological research involvesnanospheres coated with fluorescent polymers. Researchers are seekingto design polymers whose fluorescence is quenched when they encounterspecific molecules. Different polymers would detect different metabolites. The polymer-coated spheres could become part of new biological assays, and the technology might someday lead to particles that could beintroduced into the human body to track down metabolites associatedwith tumors and other health problems. The growth of nanotechnology, the emergence of nanobiotechnology, and the incorporation of livingorganisms in biomicroelectronic devices are revolutionizing theinterdisciplinary opportunities for microbiologists to participate inunderstanding, developing and exploiting microbial processes in and fromthe environment.
There are a number of key challenges in Nanotechnology and itsapplications in science, medicine, engineering and technology. With aview to provide a national forum for experts in the key disciplines of cellbiology, microbiology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, medicinal chemistry, imaging and clinical oncologyto identify critical problems that may be best addressed using amultidisciplinary approach, the Conference is being organized. We requestyou to kindly participate in the conference along with your fellow scientistsand research scholars and make this conference a success.
We look forward to welcome you to the pearl city of Hyderabad.
With best regards and good wishes,
Prof. P.P. Reddy Dr. Kaiser JamilChairman, Organizing Committee Co-chairman
Dr Adarsh K. CapoorOrganizing Secretary
