How the MBS came about

Sands' design is superior to other bids in terms of pedestrian circulation and layout, and it also fit in with the Marina Bay landscape best.

Introduction

Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay in Singapore. Developed by Las Vegas Sands, it is billed as the world's most expensive standalone casino property at S$8 billion, including cost of the prime land.

Introduction

The resort was officially opened with a two-day celebration on 23 June 2010 at 3.18 pm, after a partial opening on 27 April 2010

Aesthetic appeal

Hotel towers was set back from the waterfront to open up expansive views of the city and the entire Marina Bay, making the skyline for Singapore's downtown more attractive and distinctive

This shows that the government had thought about all the different factors when they had idea of having a integrated resort.

Thus, it increases Singapore’s tourism appeal. This also shows how the Singapore government is anticipating change and staying relevant globally by staying competitive to other countries.

Connection to MBS

The MBS has boosted the economy, it is expected to profit an addition of $2.7 billion or 0.8% to Singapore's Gross Domestic Product by 2015, employing 10,000 people directly and 20,000 jobs being created in other industries.

People’s say

However, the idea was rejected by a minority of Singaporeans for fear of gambling addictions and other problems leading to social unrest. The government continued with the idea and showed how they thought for Singapore and not only doing ideas that were popular among the people.
