PREFACEthe meeting of the Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M. of Canada, in the

Province of Ontario, held in July, 1915, the Mret Worshipful the

Grand'Master appointed a Committee consisting of M. W. Bro.

W. D. McPherson, G.M.,V. W. Bro. John B. Hutchins, G. O., and

W. Bro. George H. Mitchell, with power to add to their num-ber, to consider the question of the adoption by Grand Lodge of a

Musical Ritual for use in Constituent Lodges, and to report to Grand Lodgethrough the Board of General Purposes at the next Annual Communication. TheCommittee reported as instructed and submitted a draft Musical Ritual whichwas unanimously adopted, and the Members of the Committee, together with M.W. Bros. E. T. Malone 'and D. J. Goggin, R. W. Bros. W. H. Wardrope, R. L.

Gunn, and George S. May. V. W. Bro. W. J. A. Carnahan, Bros. Thos. H. Litster

and Jas. Edmund Jones (with M. W. Bro. 'W. D. McPherson as Chairman)were appointed to have it published.

The Committee on publication deeply appreciate the courtesy and kindness

of the owners of the copyrights of the hymns and chants used in this Musical

Ritual and gratefully acknowledge the indebtedness of Grand Lodge,to them.

The Conunittec gladly express their thanks to Bro. Albert Ham, Mus. Doc.,

F. R. C. O., whose suggestions, contributions, and scholarly criticisms of the music

were most valuable.
