Acknowledgement…

Manaaki means…

[Maori Language] - (verb) to support, take care of,

give hospitality to, protect, look out for - show

respect, generosity and care for others. In other

words, it means FAMILY.

what is the most important thing

we need to do to achieve manaaki

let’s find out

activity

getting

it right

so, how should we communicate

empathize

concentrate

ask or acknowledge

respond

c.a.r.e.

The Active Communication Cycle

what keeps us from achieving manaaki

activity

challenge of

the pattern

so, what prevents us from communicating

our paradigms are…

how we think things

work in the world

around us

to explain this, we need an elephant

why can’t

the elephant

break free

let’s try to change our thinking

transform the following…

there’s nothing i can do about it

he/she is difficult to work with

that’s what my client wants

the boss/client won’t allow that

i have to…

if only…

it’s his/her fault

that’s not my job

how do we manage our paradigms

activity

swiss army

knife

managing our paradigms

be open-minded

be courageous

be imaginative

“ If you want small

changes in your life,

work on your

attitude; but, if you

want big and

primary changes,

work on your

paradigms.

- Stephen Covey
