Steps to follow

1. Find yourself some old cassette tapes(You can find them in old record stores or even may be attics or basement)

Get Yourself some acetone

Preferably chemical, if you don’t have access to chemical acetone, simple nailpolish remover does the trick

Bring home a plastic bucket that is chemically inert

This serves as a reactionvesselMake sure it is chemicallyinert or the bucket willbe useless

Time for kitchen shopping

Get yourself some plastic wrap and vegetable oil

Process

Break your cassettes, pull out the tapes, then toss em in your bucket. Pour your acetone in, stir it up, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it sit for an hour.

Come back, stir it up again, cover it again, and let it sit for another hour. Once that’s done, you should see a fine black powder sitting around the bottom of your bucket. If you look at the tapes, they should be more clear than black.
