Middle Ages

Knights

Knights of the middle ages wore over 50 pounds armor. Crusaders are like knights but they fought holy battles. They work for the king who give them money and land. You can tell apart a crusader and a knight is crusaders have a cross on there armor, knights just wear plain armor.

People of the Middle Ages

There are many people in the middle ages. There are important people like the king , queen, monk, pope, and priest. There are less important people ( in the kings point of view) like serfs which are the poor people of the middle ages. There are many other people like the jesters and greater lords.

Castles

You probably know parts of a castle like the moat, the drawbridge, and the wall around the castle. There is many more like the outer bailey( the open space between outer wall and inner wall) and the inner bailey( the space in the inner walls). The machicolations are holes that were used to drop oil, hot water, stones ,etc on attackers . There are many more parts of a castle like parapets and corbels. Parapets are low walls around the top of the castle. Corbels are stone projections in the walls that supported the parapets.

Feudal System

The feudal system is a social based upon obligations between lords and vassal. A vassal is lesser noble than the greater noble . Lords get an estate which sometimes include barns, tools ,animals ,and land for the serfs owned by the lord. The lords are like a king but of the serfs.

Feudal PyramidThe feudal pyramid is in order the is the most important to the least important. Of course the king is on the top then the greater noble . Then the lesser noble then of course at the bottom the serfs. The poor serfs are poor and not as important as important as the king. The king is the richest in the land and gets everything he wants and when he wants it.
