DX NEWS October 5, 1968 pa&&

From the Boston Emergency Publication Cormnittee.. . We are attempting t o bring a l l aspects of club operation immediately UP t o date-

I f you have written t o KQ i n the past regarding ncw mcmbor k i t s , unfulfilled orders for club supplies and the l ike , and have not received a reply. please drop us a card. .

The sooner we can get past business brought up t o date, the more e f f ic ien t ly we w i n s

be able t o t o attend t o your future correspondence.

The next bul let in w i l l be i n two weeks and w i l l be dated October 19th. We then

expect t o resume our weekly publication schedule. A two week spacing i s necessary a t this time i n order t h a t the annual factory overhaul of the mimeograph machine (usually dono during the summer) may be completed. Bulletin size w i l l be tanporarily frozen a t 22 pages per issue and each edi tor has been assigned a weekly page-limit t o guarantee tha t v i t a l information does not have t o be held over by the publisher. The l imi ts fo r individual sections have been agreed upon by the edi tors and are i n the sane r a t i o as the material which appeared i n the bul le t in l a s t season. See each individual section f o r t h a t edi tor 's par t icular ed i to r i a l policy. Your cooperation w i l l be greatly appreciated.

The NRC Domestic Log described l a s t bul let in i s already be t t e r than one-third- sold and many of you w i l l probably have already received yours by the time You read th is . If you've neglected t o order yours, you'd best delay no longer - remember this log i s being sold on a first-come, first-served basis and t h a t once the first batch i s gone there won't be another f o r a t l e a s t a year. Full de ta i l s appeard i n the last edition of DX Nev~s.

The acting Secretary-R.easurer, Tom Holmes, reminds you tha t you w i l l continue t o receive two renewal notices before your p l a t e i s pulled and your bul le t in i s no longer mailed. Because each address change requires the purchase of a custom made addressograph plate , please remit $0.25 when you change your address i n advance. A chargo of $0.50 w i l l be required fo r address changes made without advance notice.

Please make note of t1.e following addresses, effective u n t i l fur ther notice:

From the merger Committee of 10:

A draf t Constitution f o r the proposed merged club i s now being prapared- It., along with a skeleton s e t of bylaws concerning olections and responsibi l i t ies of the proposed BOD, i s expected t o appear i n the next bulletin, The i n i t i a l estimate f o r dues i n t h e new club, $8 third class and $12 f irst class, s t i l l appears t o be rea l i s t ic . Present cost analysis suggests tha t each member of the merged club could receive '$4 pages an issue (22 from each coast), 34 times a year, under a dues schedule of $8/$12. Last year the NRC averaged 28 peges a week and IRCA about 26; it now appears that a member of the merged club would receive more pages fo r h is dues - dollar than he now receives i n e i ther club. The Committee i s a lso presently studying the communications addressed t o it preparatory t o voting on an interim format. Merge i s contingent upon a favorable vote i n the I R C A referendum (ballots i n 10/19 issue).
