LIBEREC REGION

Liberec Region is

the smallest region

in the Czech Republic.

The largest cities: 1) Liberec (100 000) 2) Jablonec (50 000) 3) Česká Lípa (35 000)

Liberec, with its Technical University, is the administrative centre of the region.

It is also an economic, trading, cultural and tourist centre of the region.

Liberec region is predominantly mountainous.

There are Lusatian and Jizera Mountains, the Ještěd group and the western part of Krkonoše (Giant) Mountains.

The climate is cold and rainy; on northern slopes of Bílý Potok area, there is the wettest place in Czechia.

The region is an important reservoir of drink water.

JEŠTĚD

Ještěd is a hotel and transmitter on the top of the mountain.

It’s 1012 meters high. Ještěd is 40 years old and cableway is 60 years old.

It was built according to project of the famous Czech architect Karel Hubáček.

Ještěd is going to be added to the list of UNESCO heritage.

ECONOMY

Liberec Region is an industrial nature. There is:

glass industry (hand made), the production of artificial jewellery, engineering,

Tourism forms an indispensable part of regional economy.

We’ve got many places for sports activities (especially winter), historical and nature monuments, water reservoirs….

Our school has two Parts.

Elementary - 1.-5.class (children from 6.-11.years)

Secondary - 6.-9.class (12-15-year-old children)

We’ve got 17 classes and 23 teachers altogether.

We’ve got about 400 pupils.
