Leadership
NormandLizHewittBackin1982,GodcalledacountryboyfromLouisianatofull-timeministry.Whileworkingfull-timeinministryatalocalchurch,heearnedaBAinChristianEducationfromSouthwesternUniversityinWaxahachie,Texas.Hesincehasministeredinchurchesaroundthecountryandincitiesthroughouttheworld,tellingpeopleabouttheGoodNewsandloveofJesus.Twice,hehasbeenonstaffatchurcheslistedbyOutreachMagazineas“100FastestGrowingChurchesintheU.S.”Hehaspublishedcurriculumforchildrenandadults,spokenatnationalministryconferences,andrecordedmusic,buthishearthasalwaysbeenforthelocalchurch.Tenyearsago,PastorNormHewittwasdrivinginthehillsandlakesidesoftheGuntersville/AlbertvilleareawhentheLorddroppedintohimadreamofachurchforthatarea.Heneverforgotit.Now,hebeginstobuildthegroundworkofachurchfilledwithrealpeoplewithrealstruggleswhoneedarealGodwhooffersreallove.HehasbeenmarriedtoLizfor28yearsandtogethertheyhavea19-year-oldson,Samuel.

familiesandsinglesthatarenotlookingforsomethingreligious,butsomethingreal-relationshipwithGod.Wewantpeoplewhoarelookingfortheauthentic.Ourfocusisyoungfamiliestoretirementage.
● MarshallCountyishometoover96,000peopleandover57,000claimsomereligiousaffiliationbutattendancesuggestsamuchsmallernumberareactiveparticipatorsinchurch.Withaconservativeestimate,weknowthatapproximatelyhalfofMarshallCountyisnotconnectedtoalocalchurchandwewouldinferthatthosewhoarenotconnectedareunsavedandinneedofJesus.
WhatMakesUsDifferentInanareaofculturalChristianityandstrongholds,wewillbringarelational,butfocused,approachtosharetheloveofGod.

(1)Wearegoingtobesuperintentionalaboutbuildingauthenticrelationshipsandacultureofauthenticity-thekindofrelationshipsthatyoucanshareyourdeepestdarkestsecretandbemetwithlove,healingandforgiveness.Aculturewhereitisokaytonotbeokay,becauseweareallstillinprocess,nobodyhasarrived,andeveryoneneedstobeencouragedtocontinuewalkingouttheirlifebysubmittingtoGodmoreofiteachday.
(2)Wearegoingtohaveaworld-classNextGenerationministry.YoucantrustustopartnerwithparentsinteachingchildrenandyouththeWordofGodandteachingthemhowtheycanliveitoutbyfaith.WewillhelpthemstoretheWordintheirheartandmindandlearnhowtoallowittoshapetheirlives.Wewillteachthemexperientialfaith,notjuststoriesandverses,andproveGodisasrealtodayandstillmovesthroughusbyHisHolySpirit.TheywilllearntheycanbeJesuswithskinon!
(3)Wemakethispromise:Ifyouwillallowusto,wewillwalkwithyou,nomatterwhatyouaregoingthrough!Wewillbetheretoprayforyou,encourageyou,andspeakthetruthinloveevenwhenyoumaynotwanttohearit.Wemaynotbailyououtofasituation,butwewillwalkthroughitwithyou.Wewillputonour“waders”andgetinthemiddleofitwithyou.

Heisnotempoweringthework.TheHolySpiritisourguide,comforter,andtheOneWhowillleadusintoalltruth.AnditistheSpiritthatistheOnethatadministersgraceinusandthroughus.I’mnottalkingaboutagracethatis“sloppyagape,”butagracethatlovespeoplerightwheretheyare,whoextendsgraceforchange,andthenempowersthemtochange.Wewon’texpectbabyChristianstobewalkinglikematureChristians,butwewillwalkingracewiththem,encouragingthemtogrowandwalkinholiness.InJesus’wordstothewomancaughtinadultery,“Woman,wherearethoseaccusersofyours?Hasnoonecondemnedyou?”Shesaid,“Noone,Lord.”AndJesussaidtoher,“NeitherdoIcondemnyou;goandsinnomore.”(John8:10-11)WearecalledtobeledbytheSpiritandtowalkinHisgrace.Thisisourmostimportantdistinctive.

OpeningDayRealChurchwillbelaunchedSunday,October23,2016.
ProposedLocationWeareintheprocessofsecuringabuildingintheGuntersvillearea.Wearepursuingmultipleoptions,includingtemporaryuseinperformancetheatersandschools,aswellasleasingapermanentfacilityinastripmall.Weinitiallyhadabuildingwewereclosetosigningon,butthecityrequiredtoomanyupdatestomakeitfeasibleforouruse.WeareupdatingourtimelinetosecureafacilitybyJuly15th.
NumberofServicesWewillbeginwitha10amserviceandhopefullyaddanadditionalserviceafterthefirstoftheyear.
TheExperienceDrivingSouthdownHwy431(GunterAvenueinGuntersville),thebuildingwillbeontherightwithflagsandbannerswelcomingalltoRealChurch.Upondrivingintotheparkinglot,attendeeswillbegreetedwithsmilesofpeopleexcitedtoseethem.Theywillagainbegreetedandhelpedatthedoorwaystoconnectwithothers,findrefreshment(water,coffee,andamorningsnack).Iftheyhavechildren,theywillbeguidedtothechildren’sministrycheck-in.
Thechurchsanctuarywillbeopenandinvitingandrelationshipswillbeencouraged.Enteringthesanctuary,sectionhostswillhelpthemfindaplacetositaswellasintroducethemtothosearoundthemandinitiateconversations.Thesectionhostwillletthemknowaboutupcomingsectionactivities,suchasafter-churchlunchesormidweekcoffeemeetings.Asapre-servicevideoplayssharingthevisionofRealChurchwiththecountdowntothestartofservice,attendeeswillbeencouragedtoenterintoworshipasthebandbeginstoplayanupbeatsongandthesonglyricsappearonthreevideoscreens.Afterthefirstsong,attendeeswillbegreetedfromthestage,givenanintroductionofwhattheservicewillentail,andprayedfor.Worshipwillcontinue.Worshipwillbecontemporaryandvibrantwithvideo,lights,andambiancetoleadpeopleintothepresenceofGod.Thiswillseguewayintovideoannouncementsandsermonbumper.Theteachingwillbeillustratedandrelevant.OurprayeristhattheHolySpiritwillopenheartstoreceiveGod’swordandencouragepeople.ServicewillendwithatimefortheHolySpirittomoveandpeopletorespond.Theclosingwillincludeannouncementsandoffering.

Children’sExperienceRealKidswillbegreetedandcheckedinusingacomputerizeddatabaseprogramtoprovidesecuritynumberlabelsforparentsandchildren.Classeswillbedividedtobestministertospecificages:Infants,1years,2-3years,4years-5K,and1st-5thgrades.Eachoftheseareaswillhavethemedroomsandage-appropriateteaching.Infants–3yearswillmeetin“ThePond,”anareadecoratedwithturtles,ducks,andfrogs.ChildrenwillbetaughtthroughsimpleteachingtopraiseGod,loveJesus,andhonorHisWord.
“TheBayou”willbethelargegroupareadecoratedwithawoodcabininabayouscenewherepreschoolerswillcontinuethisteachingandfocusonBiblestoriesandscripturememorization.
“ThePipeline”willbedesignedforelementaryagedchildrenandwillteachpracticalapplicationsofhowtoliveouttheChristianlifethroughfunpuppetry,skits,objectlessons,andillusions.Eachclassroomwillbestaffedwithaminimumof2adultswhohavebeenproperlytrained,
screened,andbackgroundcheckscompleted.Wewillincorporatea“team”approach,whereteacherswillworktogether,butalsorotatesothatchildrengainfromconsistency,butleadersavoidburnout.

Scoringa“Win”attheendofOpeningDayWedesiretohavemostofourministriesfunctioningfromdayone.Wewillhaveaparkingteam,greetingteam,guestservicesteam,sectionhostteam,children’sministryteam,productionteam,worshipartsteam,andprayerteam.
