The 4 “C’s”
ACTFL World Languages Standards
How can we teach our languages AND incorporate the skills that our students
need to be successful in the 21st century?
Using technology in the World Languages
classroom:
• Enhances student creativity
• Allows students to communicate outside of the classroom
• Provides opportunities for student collaboration
• Requires students to think critically to evaluate resources
• Engages and motivates students
“But I don’t have time, I’m teaching them (insert language
here)”
Using technology in WL classrooms can:
• INCREASE instructional time in the classroom
• INCREASE student interest in the learning the language
• INCREASE teaching to the standards
• INCREASE student production of language and student proficiency
Where to Start?
Don’t start from scratch…

Then “re-design” it into something exciting and
new!
