Akamai Media Services Live The latest generation includes four new components, known as Live Origin™. Operating together to provide traditional broadcast television quality for linear video streaming:
Broadcast-Quality Ingestion: Highly distributed ingestion network maps encoders to the most optimal entry point, while ingest acceleration supports throughput of higher bit rates and mitigates poor network connectivity.
Low Latency: 10-second latency allows online and broadcast content to play back near-simultaneously, dramatically reducing what has traditionally been a 30-second-or-more delay between broadcast signals and online streams.
Self-Healing Network: Multiple layers of redundancy replicates content to multiple locations across the network. The design allows for immediate failover if performance is in any way degraded.
