Dear Parents, Staff and Students,
Yesterday we attended a presentation by ‘The Resilience
Project’ who we will be working with us in 2018. A key
message was how much time we spend ‘worrying about what
we haven't got’ rather than focussing on ‘what we should be
grateful for’. A nice way to build resilience is to spend a few
minutes each day listing three things you are grateful for.
Some high profile AFL players and sporting personalities
practice gratitude, achieving great success through a healthier
mindset. You are encouraged to try this at home with your
family. We look forward to be bringing ‘The Resilience
Project’ to Kismet Park next year.
On Tuesday Sunbury Rotary Club kindly
donated $400 towards our efforts to es-
tablish a Father’s group which aims to:
help fathers realise how important they are in a child’s life
and to give them advice on how to encourage their
children.
encourage fathers to be proactive and get involved with
their children.
help fathers and father figures get connected in positive
ways.
We thank Sunbury Rotary Club for their generous support of
school communities in Sunbury and look forward to
launching our Father’s Group early next year. If you would
like to get involved in the planning of activities please speak
with Glenn.
There are only five weeks to go until our Country Fair Fete!
It is full steam ahead—the Amusement company has
inspected the site and reconfirmed there is plenty of space for
our rides!
Please look out for our Fete Newsletter which will be sent
home next Monday 23rd October. Important information
about wrist bands for rides, donations and other activities will
be included. We are still looking for volunteers to assist with
preparations and on the day. Please call the office on
9744 4566 and leave your name if you would like to offer
your support.
At tomorrow afternoon’s assembly students who
participated in this year’s Australia wide ICAS English and
Maths competitions will be presented with their certificates.
The ICAS competitions are very challenging.
Congratulations to all who completed this challenging
assessment!
While the Performing Arts Space continues to move along
well, completion of our front entry has been delayed. The
builders are pushing to have the front entrance reopened by
the end of next week. Once again we thank you for your
patience and understanding.
If there is any information that we may not be aware of that
may affect your child’s class placement next year please
put the details in writing and forward to the office marked
Attention: Mr Glenn McConnell by Friday 27th of
October. This is not a teacher / class selection process, but
an opportunity to provide information which may assist
with your children’s social and academic grouping. While
all information will be carefully considered we can not
guarantee that all needs will be met.
To assist us with our forward planning we ask any
families / students who are moving to another area and not
returning to Kismet Park in 2018 to notify the school
office as soon as possible. This information is critical in
terms of class structures and staffing. Thank you for your
assistance.
Please remember students should arrive at school from
8:40am and leave grounds after school by 3:30pm. Grounds
are supervised from 8:40 – 8:55am and from 3:15 –
3:30pm. If you need to access the school earlier in the
morning and/or later in the afternoon than these times we
do have an excellent Before & After School program which
is operated by Extend. For further information about this
program please visit their website at www.extend.com.au
or call on 1300366437.

IT’S SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB TIME
Weekly recap
Last week at Before and After School care we eased into the school term with a Chill Week. We started our week by getting back into our group games and learning how to be a team again. We
also made some banana bread thanks to Trinity's request! We then made dream catchers and stress balls which are excellent at keeping us calm and we ended our week with a group dance party because who doesn't love to dance to some awesome music!!
Stay tuned to hear all about our next adventure!
