KBM Group was previously using Nagios
Core, but required a more advanced
solution that was more flexible and easier
to use. Bottlenecks occurred because only
one member of the KBM Group IT team
could use and configure Nagios, and this
limited the company’s ability to write scripts
and tailor the product to meet its business
needs.
KBM required a monitoring tool that
would provide an in-depth single view of
all areas within their IT estate. Opsview
intuitive GUI and out-of-the-box
functionality actively enabled members
of the IT team incredibly quickly. The
ease of use and configuration gave
KBM a significantly improved monitor-
ing capability.
Having evaluated various monitoring
tools such as Nagios, KBM Group
decided to test Opsview and discovered
that the other solutions lacked the ease
of use and reporting functions that
Opsview provided out-of-the-box.
Opsview’s dashboards also offered the
required visibility into IT performance
and proved easy and fast to configure.

The ChallengeKBM Group was previously using Nagios Core, but required a more advanced solution that was more flexible and
easier to use. Bottlenecks occurred because only one member of the KBM Group IT team could use and configure
Nagios, and this limited the company’s ability to write scripts and tailor the product to meet its business needs.
Further to this limitation, KBM Group required both historical reporting and real-time dashboards from their
monitoring solution, in order to allow their senior management team to visualize the performance of their
business-critical infrastructure. This functionality was not being provided by their implementation of Nagios Core.
As an additional requirement, KBM Group also needed to monitor approximately 800 devices over multiple
geographical locations within the U.S.A. and Canada, and accommodate a mix of devices and applications including
Windows, UNIX, Oracle, Sequel, Sybase and SharePoint.
DeploymentHaving evaluated various monitoring tools such as Nagios and Nagios XI, KBM Group decided to test Opsview and
discovered that the other solutions lacked the ease-of-use and reporting functions that Opsview provided
out-of-the-box. Unlike the other tools previously tried and considered, Opsview’s dashboards also offered the
required visibility into IT performance and proved easy and fast to configure.
From an initial trial installation, KBM Group implemented Opsview Enterprise and migrated from Nagios Core
almost immediately. Opsview’s intuitive GUI and out-of-the-box functionality such as auto-discovery also enabled
any members of the IT team to use and configure the product giving KBM Group a significantly improved
monitoring capability.
