Berkaitan dengan artikel yangditerbitkandi surat kabarAndapada tanggal3April, ‘Singkirkan kaki lima dari pusat kota!’, surat ini saya tulis untukmenyarankanpelestarianpedagangkakilima(PKL)dikotatercintakita.PKLadalahlambangbudayaIndonesiadanbanyakwisatawandatangkekotainiuntukmencicipimakananbuatanmereka.Sayaprihatindengannasibparapedaganginiyangakankehilangankerja.Selainitupenjelasanapayangakandiberikankepadaparapengunjungyangberharapakanmelihatdanmenikmati jajanankakilimadifestivalmakananpadabulanJulinanti?

MemangPKLmengganggu arus lalu lintas danpejalankaki karenamerekaberdagang di daerah yang ramai. Sampahnya dibuang sembarangan dankeberadaanPKLmerugikanpemiliktoko-tokoresmi.SayamengertibahwaPKLtidaksesuaidenganvisikotayangmenekankanaspekkebersihan,keindahandankerapiankota,namunribuanlapangankerjaterciptakandisektorpekerjaantidakresmiini.Lagipula,wisatawansertawargasetempatsukamakanandariPKL,halyangsudahterkenaldiIndonesia.

Menurutsaya,PKLjugamenyediakanmakanansegar,khas,musimandansedap.PKLmembukakesempatanuntukmencicipimakanandaridaerah-daerahlain.PKLmempermudahpembelianmakananyangdianggaplebihsehatdibandingkandenganmakanancepatsaji.

Sayamohondengansangatkepadapemerintahdaerahuntukmempertimbangkankembali sikapnya terhadap PKL ini. Bagaimanapun PKL sudah berada diIndonesiasejakzamanpendudukanInggrispadaabadkesembilanbelasketikapembuatan trotoaryang lebarnya limakakidiperintahkanolehGubernurSirThomasSRaffles.Dengandemikianadayangmenganggaptempatinisebagailokasistrategisuntukusahakecil.

PenyelesaiannyabukandenganmenyingkirkanPKLtetapimemindahkanmerekaketempatyanglebihcocok.SelanjutnyapendidikanpengelolaansampahdapatdiberikankepadaPKL,jumlahtongsampahditingkatkandanpekerjapembersihjalandiperbanyak.Janganlahwarisanbudayakitainisampaimusnah!
