In 1946, Domenic “Tommy” Laurenzo met Ninfa Rodriguez while she was visiting her twin sister Pilar DiMeo in Providence, Rhode Island. Tommy and Ninfa were soon married and would flip a coin to see where they would plant their roots. Ninfa chose heads for Houston and Tommy chose tails for Los Angeles. Ninfa won the coin toss and so Houston was their destiny! They started their business, Rio Grande Tortilla Factory, selling corn and flour tortillas, taco and chalupa shells, barbacoa de res, tamales and pizza pies, on Navigation Blvd in Houston’s East End Second Ward. We trace our roots and our love for food and the food business to those early years begun by Tommy and Ninfa. Laurenzo’s Restaurant embraces that history and showcases our family’s diverse Mexican, Italian and American culinary heritage with great pride. We recognize and thank our great and loyal customers throughout the years from which our daily passion to please with great food and service would not be possible. Welcome to Laurenzo’s!
