The first thing is to clear the site.

Then you put in the concrete dollies – to give the structure a solid foundation.

Next comes the posts . . . followed by the girders.

And there are a lot of girders.

It’s like assembling a giant Meccano set.

Next are the hoops.

And there are a lot of those, too.

Then the roof has to be covered with thermal shading material to protect plants from the sun.

The material has to fit snugly against the hoops and the excess trimmed off.

After that, the wind screen material has to be installed all the way around the structure.

The work is labour-intensive.

But it’s worth it . . .

. . . Because it means that the plants can hardenoff without being damaged by frost or wind.

And that’s good for all of us.
