AAA Word From the Pastor This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. This feast closes the current liturgi-
cal year and next weekend we begin with a new Church or liturgical year which opens with
the season of Advent. Advent is a season lasting four weeks. It is a time of joyful anticipation
and expectant waiting and preparation for the coming of the Savior. This season helps to
prepare us for the coming of Jesus at Christmas as well as His second coming. To help wel-
come in the Advent Season, the Spiritual Life Committee invites you to a "WINDED UP" cele-
bration next Saturday immediately following the 5:15 PM Mass. (See the invitation below).
This little celebration is a time to gather with fellow parishioners and friends for a few minutes
after Mass and to share our hopes and wishes for the coming Christmas Celebration.
Many parishioners follow Advent practices such as having an Advent Calendar, or an advent
wreath on the table and praying the Advent prayer before meals for each of the respective
weeks, or praying the Christmas Novena which traditionally begins November 30 on the
Feast of St. Andrew or the Sunday nearest to his feast day. Others use this time of anticipa-
tion by preparing the home with Christmas decorations, shopping for presents and writing
Christmas cards. Perhaps you'll consider following one of the Advent programs from the new
FORMED program available to all parishioners. Information will be available next weekend or
you can follow the instructions printed elsewhere in this bulletin to go on line and register with
FORMED.

FOCUS: Lord, you are the beginning and end of all
that is good. We pray that we continue to be made
sharers in your divine reign by our words and actions.
As we enter this sacred mystery, let us call to mind
the times we have failed to ask for pardon and peace.
In the first reading, the Son of Man stands before the throne of God. He receives dominion over all the nations.
In the second reading, Jesus is the one who makes of us a kingdom of priests to serve his heavenly Father. In the
Gospel, Jesus and Pilate confront one another over whether Jesus is a king. Published by Franciscan Media

Giving Tree On November 24
th, we will be setting up our Annual Advent Giving Tree in the narthex of the church. Your wonderful
generosity in the past has been greatly appreciated. Everyone is invited to participate in this heartwarming Holy Name
of Jesus family Advent project.
Again this year we will be providing gifts to the “INN” of Long Island. This includes over 100 children and adults.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Please no more than three items, each under $25.00 or up to $50.00.
2. Take a name tag from the tree. If children take a tag, please sign for it.
3. Sign the sign-up sheet and supply all necessary information. Please be accurate about this.
IF YOU DO TAKE A TAG FROM THE TREE — PLEASE SIGN IT OUT ON THE PROVIDED SHEETS SO THAT WE HAVE A RECORD TO CHECK.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
4. All gifts must be new.
5. Place the cut top portion of the tag with the name and # taped securely to the gift.
6. All gifts must be returned by DECEMBER 9th. It is very important that we receive them by then. We must sort and
package them for pickup on December 13th.
IF THERE ARE NO TAGS LEFT ON THE TREE AND YOU STILL WISH TO HELP, WE WOULD
APPRECIATE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING GIFTS: Blankets, hats, scarves, gloves and gift cards to Target/Kohl’s.
Place the gift cards in a gift box to ensure safety. You may also return gift cards to the parish office.
Thanks so much—- The Giving Tree Committee
