From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

Trinity Sunday: “But when the Spirit of truth comes, the Spirit will guide you to all truth...” (John 16:13). Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help us know and live the truth. To prepare ourselves, we need to open our hearts to receive this gift before we can give it. Develop a daily prayer routine to ask the Holy Spirit to help guide our thoughts and actions.

Proverbs 8:22-31: Christians have long associated the figure of Wisdom with the person of Christ, using the wisdom tradition to understand the relationship of the Creator and the Son. Just as Wisdom asserts her participation in creation, so also Christians hold that all things came into being through Christ. Christians believe that Jesus, the Son of God, is the wisdom of God, which is why this passage is used for today’s celebration of the Trinity.

Romans 5:1-5: Paul acknowledges a future glorification but asserts that our present reality often involves the necessity of suffering- pain and struggle. But such pain can build character, making the Christian stronger and eager to serve God. Stronger character generates greater hope, a hope that is not in vain because it is confirmed by the love of God and the action of the Holy Spirit.

John 16:12-15: It is the presence of the Spirit who will guide Jesus ’ disciples—and Christians of all ages as well—and will instruct and comfort the faithful. But, as Jesus’ words attest, the Spirit is always revealing and glorifying Jesus himself, and Jesus is so intimately united with the Father that he is able to claim in another passage, “The Father and I are One.”

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

HAPPY 200TH ANNIVERSARY, MARIANIST SISTERS!: On May 25, 1816, in the town of Agen, France, a young woman of aristocratic birth consecrated her life to the Blessed Virgin in a new and powerful way. On that day 200 years ago, Adèle de Batz de Trenquelléon established the Filles de Marie Immaculée, the Daughters of Mary Immaculate, whom we know as the Marianist Sisters. Adèle felt called to religious life at an early age. Through a fortuitous series of circumstances, Adèle came into contact with a priest named William Joseph Chaminade. Adèle and Chaminade were kindred spirits and had dedicated their lives to God and their talents to rebuilding the Church in France in the wake of the revolution. With the support of Fr. Chaminade and in the company of Marie Thérèse Charlotte de Lamourous and a small group of women, Adèle initiated this new community to carry out the “mission of Mary.” Today, Marianist Sisters minister in 14 countries across the globe, serving in education, pastoral ministry, retreat leadership and social justice, touching the lives of thousands of God’s children every day.

answering a call to deeper discipleship. Interviews underway for fall classes at the Pilarczyk Center, Dayton. Email Dcn. Hal Belcher, [email protected] or 419-305-5486.

DEEP THOUGHTS ABOUT PIGS AND SHEEP Do you think sheep know when you're pulling the wool over their eyes? Does the person who inventories sheep often fall asleep on the job? If a pig is sold to the pawn shop is it then called a ham-hock? If you pushed a pig down a hill would he be a sausage roll? What do sheep count when they can't get to sleep? Why do we call them guinea pigs when they are neither from Guinea nor are they

pigs? Why don't sheep shrink when it rains? Why is it that the first thing we try to do after killing a pig is to cure it? Would a small pig be called a hamlet?

SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE: A couple had been married for 45 years and had raised a brood of 11 children and were blessed with 22 grandchildren. When asked the secret for staying together all that time, the wife replies, "Many years ago we made a promise to each other: the first one to pack up and leave has to take all the kids."

HAVE ANOTHER LAFF: Cooking Woes...Becky prepared a pasta dish for a dinner party she was giving. In her haste, however, she forgot to refrigerate the spaghetti sauce, and it sat on the counter all day. She was worried about spoilage, but it was too late to cook up another batch. She called the local Poison Control Center and voiced her concern. They advised Becky to boil the sauce again.

That night, the phone rang during dinner, and one of the guests volunteered to answer it. Becky's face dropped as the guest called out, "It's the Poison Control Center. They want to know how the spaghetti sauce turned out."

BERGAMO ACTIVITIES

Divine Comedy Contemplative Retreat II: Sat-Sun, June 25th-26th, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. This two-day retreat will provide a fuller experience of the depths of the three canticles that comprise the Divine Comedy, namely, the Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. The undergirding purpose of the Divine Comedy retreat is opening up the literary and spiritual work for each participant to explore their own journeys of transformation. Dante’s hope was to lead the readers to a greater understanding of their place in the universe and prepare them for the next life, which begins after death. This retreat experience is intended to be accessible to people from all backgrounds; no previous knowledge of the Divine Comedy is necessary. Quiet time for personal reflection and application will be paramount, interspersed with some group sessions. The retreat guide will be Anthony Franchina who has an M.A. in Italian language and literature, and the disposition to conduct the mini-pilgrimage under Dante as the retreat master. Meals provided. Overnight accommodation at Bergamo available. Mary, Mother of Mercy Chapel, Hoelle Conference Rm; $50 commute, $125 w/lodging (4 meals).
