A MESSAGE FROM FATHER MAHONEY APRIL 5, 2015
minutes to “change gears” from hearing Confessions to Celebrating the Eucharist. The priests will be happy to hear your Confession after Mass if there is a need. Your attention to this is important and appreciated. Thank you for your understanding. A special word of gratitude to all who have done so much in preparing for our Triduum and Easter Liturgies. Your efforts have glorified the Lord and enriched our celebra-tions this week. Thank you!
Let us pray for each other. God bless, Father Mahoney
Dear Parishioners of the Collaborative and visitors to our Parishes today, Please allow me to wish you a very Joyous and Happy Easter! Jesus Christ is Risen Today, Alleluia!!! Allelu-ia!!! If you are new to our Parish Communities of Holy Ghost in Whitman and St. Bridget’s in Abington – Wel-come!!! We are glad you are here. Our two parishes are in Collaboration with each other to further the Mission of the Church and bring the Good News of Jesus, Risen from the dead, to our communities.
Today we celebrate Easter. Easter is not just for today, it is a 50-day meditation on the mystery of Christ's Resur-rection. Our Gospel on Easter morning tells us about the disciples' discovery of the empty tomb. It was first dis-covered by a woman, Mary of Magdala. She sees the tomb and RUNS to tell the apostles what has happened, and two apostles RUN to the tomb to see for them-selves. Running is mentioned three times in this short passage! This tells us something important. Easter, and our Easter Faith, is active. It moves. It’s something alive, and wondrous, and constantly in motion. The Gospel readings over the next 50 days will speak about the Risen Lord appearing to his followers and how they began to believe in the Resurrection. Having believed, they began to proclaim it to everyone. I pray on this Easter Day, and this Easter Season, that your faith continues to grow and thrust you into motion to proclaim it, to share it, and to live it with those around you. Every parish in the Archdiocese will be taking one collec-tion today to support the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust for our priests. The success of the collection is criti-cal to our ongoing efforts to ensure an appropriate level of care and quality of life programs for priests of the Archdi-ocese of Boston. We are grateful for your full participa-tion and support. Fr. Steve Healy who is away for treat-ment, Fr. Mark Riley who is ill, and our retired priests - Fr. Joe Arsenault (in residence), Fr. Vin Poirier, and Fr. Mike Regan (who assist at St. Bridget’s) are all being as-sisted by this fund right now. Thank you for joining us in this important effort to ensure that we can continue car-ing for the health and well-being of our priests in their time of need.
I mentioned this in last week’s bulletin: Because we are in a shortage of priests here in the Collaborative due to illnesses, I call your attention to the celebration of the Sacrament of Penance. From this point forward the priest hearing Confessions on Saturday afternoon, most likely, will be the Celebrant of the 4:00 p.m. Mass. CONFES-SIONS NOW END AT 3:30 ON SATURDAYS to give
DIVINE MERCY CELEBRATION WITH DEACON JOE
