Heathrow Airport Transfers – A Traveler’s Guide
London is frequented by visitors from around the world for various purposes and a large chunk
of them use the Heathrow airport. Situated at a distance of 22 km from central London Heathrow
is the busiest airport in London and also the third busiest in the world. In tandem with the
frequency of planes touching down and flying out there are a number of public and private
Heathrow airport transfers to ferry people in to and out of the airport.
Trains
Heathrow express
This is the quickest of all Heathrow airport transfers. It takes around 15 minutes to cover the
stretch. There are non stop trains available in every 15 minute. The trains are available from
terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5. If you are touching down at terminal 4 then there are free transfer trains
to terminals 1, 2 & 3. These are comfortable trains with air conditioning, excellent baggage
space, television, facility of using mobile phone while inside the tunnel, first class service and
Quiet Zone carriage. It will take you to Paddington from where you can catch trains for south or
north of the country.
Tube rail
A tube rail service between the airdrome and central London will cost you the least. Though it
takes much more time to reach London than the Heathrow Express you will not have to wait for
a train for more than 10 minutes. You will get trains from under ground stations at terminals no.
1, 2 & 3 and others for terminals 4 and 5 respectively.
Heathrow connect
This will reach you to central London at Paddington in about 25 minutes, and the trains are
available in almost every 30 minute. However, it is not a non-stop train service like Heathrow
express; the trains stop at Southall, Hanwell, West Ealing and other stations. This mode of
Heathrow airport transfers is available from terminal numbers 1, 2 & 3.
Coaches
National Express Coach
If you take the train you will have to get down at Paddington and avail other modes of transport
from there to different areas across England. However, if you avail the coaching services then
you can get a pick up from the airstrip terminal and a drop off at your hotel door. It runs services
to more than 500 destinations spread across the country, almost hundred of which are direct
services. You can enjoy a smooth journey in their modern, luxurious and air conditioned
coaches. You can get the coaches from the central bus stoppage which is near terminals 1 and 3.
If you are arriving at terminal 4 then coaches are available from stops 13 and 14 outside the
building, and if you are arriving at terminal 5 then you can get to stops 13 and 16 outside the
terminal building.
Taxis
Black cab
If you do not like to avail public Heathrow Airport Transfers then there are the famed London
black cabs waiting for you outside the terminals. A taxi ride to central London will take about an
hour and cost between £45 to 70.
Minicabs
Black cabs offer insufficient luggage space. So you can avail private minicabs for Heathrow
airport transfers. These are somewhat cheaper than black cabs and can be booked over telephone.
