Profile of the field with hard to recover oil
reserves (field below the gas cap and
water-oil areas)In Russia almost all developed fields in the traditional regions of oil production (Caucasus, Urals-Volga region, the Western Siberia) are characterized by high degree of depletion – over 60%. The share of active fields accounts for the third of all discovered reserves, 67% of which are hard to recover reserves, including high-viscosity oils – 13%, low-permeability reservoirs – 36%, small thickness formations –4%, under-gas-cap zones –14%.Also the greater share of the reserves accounts for the fields with vast water-oil areas (WOA).

Creation of water and gas cones
During classical fields’ development, where active bottom waters and gas cap are available, waterand gas cones are always created in the production well. The m ain reason for their creation isdepression in the well and pressure gradient in the formatio n.

For obtaining helicoid perforator it is proposed to usecommercially produced perforator of type PSch-6-146(Russian: ПЩ-6-146).
The cost of the perforator with spare parts, tools and
accessories is RUB 300 ths.
For improvement of the perforator (turning of threadingrollers at the design angle relative to perforator axis andnozzle reorientation) Avangard LLC is selected, which iscertified by Skolkovo Innovation Center for performingsimilar works and experienced in complex petroleumequipment.

1. production wells:А. Completion of formations with close location of water-oil contact or gas-oil contact(carrying-out of formation hydraulic fracturing will lead to penetration of water or gas into thewell).B. Repeated perforation of wells with close profile of water -oil displacement, on later stage ofdevelopment, when the profile of oil displacement by water i s closer than 100 m to theproduction well and carrying-out of formation hydraulic fr acturing is risky.C. Selective completion of low permeability interlayers in order to equalize the profile ofinflow for heterogeneous reservoirs.
2. Injection wells:A. To decrease wellhead pressure during agents’ injection i nto the formation.B. To enhance formation covering by the affected area if comp ared to hydraulic fracturing offormation.C. Conclusions and proposals
• Nowadays about 31% of all oil reserves in Russia belong to hard to recover category.
• One of widely used technologies for oil inflow from the formation to the well stimulation is
hydraulic fracturing of formation; it has several disadvantages which prevent involvement of
complex feature objects having active waters or gas caps into development. The technology is
forbidden to use in some EU countries (France, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, the Netherlands) and
in some states of the USA.
• The technology of helicoid perforation is developed, it considers main effective characteristics of
formation hydraulic fracturing and the possibility of performance under complicated geological-
physical conditions without application of aggressive fluids for formation fracturing and high
pressure units.
• The proposed technology can be used both in producing and injection wells.
• The technology of helicoid perforation is protected by the patent in the Russian Federation,
international patent application was submitted and published (РСТ). Patenting in the USA, Canada,
EU and China is carried out.
• Volume of the required investment into the technology development is USD 330 ths for the 1st
and the 2nd stages (patent selling is possible before starting industrial implementation) and USD 3.5
mln for the 3rd stage.
