Hunger Relief• New clients are seen individually to discern

their spiritual needs and to explain about the hunger relief ministry.

• Existing clients are seen by appointment once per month, at which time they take part in a small group Bible study, shop for clothes, and receive a supplemental food bag.

Hunger Relief2012• 5,550 families/10,941 individuals• 91 families - emergency food• 60-100 deliveries to homebound clients• Approximately 93,816 lbs of food from Second

Harvest Food Bank and 10,000 lbs of food from Operation Blessing

• Clothes Closet – 18,000 articles of clothing were given to clients

VOLUNTEERSApproximately 77 volunteers serve at HCM each month—most help out each week.

Hunger Relief Ministry

Bible Studies

Various church groups (approx. 70 individuals each month) serve at HCM by making food bags.

Annual Christmas Outreach & Party for residents at Lynnwood-Lynnridge

TeamKID at Lynnwood/Lynnridge

• Bible Stories, games, crafts, and a meal for children in grades 1-6, led by Grace Baptist

• Presently in Carter and Johnson Counties, the

program is serving 690 children in 17 elementary

schools and two Junior High schools. Food is

obtained by Second Harvest Food Bank and

delivered to Hale Community Ministries, where

volunteers from local churches pick up the food

and deliver it to the schools.

The volume of food that comes into HCM twice per month for the backpack program.

Summer Ministries• Mission Teams: 200-300 individuals

serve through HCM in approx. 8 weeks of summer ministry.– Backyard Bible Clubs/Block Parties/Day

Camps/VBS at Boys/Girls Club– Assist at HCM (bag food, sort clothes,

perform yard work) – Prayerwalk at HCM, Lynnridge/Lynnwood,

Roan Mtn. State Park and other areas in our community

– Make door to door evangelistic visits– Perform landscaping/yard work– Partner with regional food bank

Belle Aire Baptist mission team brings MANY boxes of school clothes each year to be given to our clients.

Resort Ministries

• Backyard Bible Clubs and Family Nights are held at Roan Mountain State Park Campground various weeks throughout the summer.

• Summer mission teams, as well as local teams, lead resort ministries for a week at a time.

• Great opportunity for local churches to be on mission here in our own backyard.

• Mornings - Backyard Bible Club• Evenings – Family Night Programs

Ministry Opportunities• pray for HCM staff, volunteers, and clients• teach Bible studies at HCM (as a substitute)• answerer telephone and schedule appointments• assist with Feed the Kids Backpack Program• provide computer support when needed• make food bags

for local volunteers

Summer semester missionaries serve at HCM to assist with Summer ministries.

Material Needs• New underwear/socks for school-age children.• Large brown paper bags to use in our Hunger Relief

Program• Gallon size plastic zip locks to use in repackaging

bulk food items• School supplies to distribute to school-age children

prior to beginning of school year• Large and ex-large clothing for men and women• Casual shoes for women and men
