• No possibility for centralized channel line-up• Individual tuning of receivers is necessary when

• The active components are kept in various location hence the system will be less reliable & difficult to maintain.

TWO OPTION TO SET-UP HEAD-END STATION

• OPTION 1

Utilizing individual receivers for each channel in the head-end station. The output will be fed to the modulators.

• OPTION 2

Professional receiver modules will be used which will convert the signal directly from the satellite to RF Channels.

The option1 will be more economical compared to option 2 but, this will be more professional and reliable.

RF Distribution Advantages

The channels are tuned in the Head-End station. Hence specified channel list can be created.

Possible to distribute the PAY TV channels through the system

In-house channels can be added in the systemNo receivers in the rooms hence single remote

for the TVThe channels can be tuned directly on the TV.

RF Distribution Disadvantages

• The number of channels that are able to distribute are limited to a maximum of 95 channels.

• The distribution network is analogue hence the disturbance of local channels and others are common.

• Due to analogue distribution network, it is not possible to ensure the same picture quality in the all the TV’s.

• The HD reception is not possible using this system.

If the hotel replaces the TV’s with new digital tuner TV’s then the channels can be tuned directly in TV’s. Otherwise, a set-top-box to be installed in each TV point .

Digital Cable TV Advantages

More number of channels can be distributed through RF network.

The Head-End station is located in one place hence the maintenance will be easy and the system will be reliable.

The picture quality in all the TV’s will be perfectThe HD channel distribution is possible in the systemThe existing RF system can be replaced with this

The existing coax network can be utilized, additional wiring is not needed.

PAY TV channel can be subscribed and distributed centrally.

The system is much expensive compared to the other system

The existing RF distribution network cannot be used for this system

A separate network has to set up for distributing the signal which may cause interruption to hotel operation and creates more financial expense.

The quality of data distribution network will affect the performance of the system.
