IBI 1/36° operational
NEMO – ORCA grid model Explicit free surface with ad hoc physical parameterisations:• simulation of tides• state of the art vertical mixing model (k-epsilon)• explicit forcing by atmospheric surface pressure
Initial condition inherited from PSY2 (NATL, 1/12°) operational system + onee-way nesting: Every week: 3 week hindcast + 2 week forecast daily updates
Copy of the system operated by Puertos d. E. (Spain) MyOcean service since June

GLORYS – Objectives
eddy permitting global ocean/sea-ice reanalysis spanning the
“altimetric + ARGO" era 1992-2009. reanalysis system close to operational PS3V3 ¼° system :
GLORYS2V1 reanalysis (1992-2009)
• Coordination at European level (MyOcean project):
• NEMO3 Ocean code, tuned for reanalyses,• ERA Interim forcing• Reprocessed historical observations provided by TACs• Different data assimilation methods
3 GLO ¼° Reanalyses: MERCATOR (Fr.), U. Reading (UK), CMCC (It)1 CTRL simulation CNRS (Fr.)
1 Ocean state estimation based on observations only: CLS (Fr.) Common CAL/VAL protocol for reanalyses evaluation and assessment
12
GLORYS – Objectives
GLORYS2V1 reanalysis (1992-2009)
• Global ocean/sea-ice « eddy-permitting » circulation model: ORCA025.L75
- NEMO OGCM (Ocean: OPA, sea-ice: LIM2_EVP), 75 levels (dz=1m near surface, dz=200m near bottom )
- ERA-Interim, 3H turbulent fluxes, GEWEX based correction for radiative fluxes
- Configuration set up by DRAKKAR consortium (Barnier et al, 2006, Drakkar group, 2007).
• Data assimilation system
- Adapted from operational SAM systems used by MERCATOR-Ocean for operational forecasts
- SEEK Filter + 3DVAR bias correction for Temp and Salinity. + IAU
• A delayed-time quality-controlled observations for assimilation
- In-situ: CORA data base (Coriolis data center)
- Altimetry: AVISO data base (CLS)
- SST maps: Reynolds 0.25° AVHRR_only
