JAMMU: GovernmentCollege for Women,Gandhi Nagar todayorganized a function tocelebrate Teachers' Dayand pay glowing tributes toDr. S. Radhakrishnan forrendering commendableservices to the teachingprofession.

Dr. Pawan Kotwal,Divisional CommissionerJammu was the ChiefGuest, while I D Soni,State Commissioner, J&KScouts and Guides was theSpecial Guest.

Dr. Kiran Bakshi,Principal, GCW, GandhiNagar, Jammu, AnilKumar Gupta, Chairman,J&K State Integration andPublic Relation Societyand Deepak Aggarwal,

Chairman Pahal a socialorganization were alsopresent. Principal of theCollege welcomed the ChiefGuest and other inviteesand highlighted the role ofteachers in molding thedestiny of students andimparting wisdom andlearning to the future gen-eration.

Divisional Commissioner,Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwalspoke on the significance ofteachers in everyone's lifewho acts as a guide andshows the path towardssuccess and enriches thepersonality of their disci-ples by imparting ethicaland academic knowledge.

Dr Kotwal termed teach-ers as selfless givers andmentors. He said that thisday should be celebrated as

a festival to mark theunparallel contributionmade by teachers in the lifeof a student. On the occa-sion, the State Integrationand Public RelationSociety also honored someschool teachers for render-ing great service.

The teachers honoredincluded Mrs. KanchanSharma, Onkar Sharma,Harbans Singh, KuldeepSingh Langeh andSukhdev Mishra.

The students presenteda scintillating cultural pro-gramme to celebrate theday. They expressed grat-itude to their teachers forthe guidance. Hostel stu-dents also celebratedJanamashtami in advanceby presenting a beautifulRadha Krishna dance.
