The loss of communal values priority after the spreading of science and technology

The insufficiency of cultural transfer in the core family and the cultural estrangement of an individual to its culture as an effect of education in a foreign language.

Communication technologies advancement determines the direction of cultural change and with the appearance of web population; Unconscious cultural interaction destroys social structure.

Behavior that comes with cultural interaction is not compatible with the current cultural values and beliefs, hence the cultural clash.

• Solving the problem between individuals who are connected to a rooted culture and the individuals who live the new culture.

For gaining an understanding of the roots of our field, a research on cultural history has been made. Furthermore, a debate has been held and a conversation has been held with the topics specialists. Ideas outside the group have been considered and books were used as a an information source.

The solution of the problem with cultural values which are compromised of various justifications (education, technological advancement, media, economic factors) is possible with modern education which uses technology and social advancement.

Informing the members of the group and sharing of the work.

Relation of the elements between reasons and solutions.

After brainstorming, our subject is decided as “ Awareness of values in interactions of cultures”.

To understand how much the interactions between cultures affect high school students, we applied a survey to different high schools’ students.

The problem was determined. To see main reasons and supporting reasons , we made a “Herringbone Pattern”.

After making a matrix diagram, the liaisons between main reasons and supporting reasons are analyzed.

The research was made about our subject, then our hypothesis was determined.

To communicate easier and be aware of what we do, we had a common e-mail then we started to prepare a blog.

GSL Debate Club organized a debate about the effects of interactions between cultures , so the pros and cons were analyzed.

After having a lot of interview with different culture centers ( Hungarian, French), a report was prepared.

During Gsl Science Fest, an exposition was made to present our project to students who come from multiple schools.

Interviews were made with foreign teachers or teachers who lived a really long time in a different country to understand how they see the differences.

It is aimed to open a Folklore Club in our school.

It is planned that every year in Easter there will be a week to share cultures.

Every year, in Science Fest, there will be a “ Culture Day” to present and discuss cultures.

Creating a sharing environment with brain storming and analyzing our ideas to create new ones,

With a bright team spirit creating the right environment for work,

Using the technology at its best,

Inform our target audience about «cultural interaction» and creating consciousness about this topic,

Helping to grow a conscious generation is one of our main goals. Reaching this goal is a big success for us. We will evaluate our success with the in intervals conducted surveys.

Firstly, we made an presurvey to students in high schools to see the cultural interaction of cultures and determine important points. Our survey was conducted in many different schools. Then we determined the main subjects and sub problems.

We concluded that a debate would be very informative. The debate was conducted by Galatasaray High school debate society.The parties disputed about the positive and negative effects of cultural interactions, in particular for the Turkish culture. So this helped us a lot and we gained a deeper understanding of our topic which we used to analyze our problems in detail.

People who were born in foreign cultures and who then lived in Turkey often have a good inside on interactions between cultures. Therefore, we visited the Hungarian culture center and made an interview with the qualified persons.

In midterm vacancy, our intern students made videos in their home city and observed the differences which happen with cultural interaction.

City Report on Manisa

•Within Galatasaray high school science festival and planned a seminar to present our project to more students. With interactive work we learned their views of our project.

•We had a friendly debate with our schools philosophy teacher within limits of our project to gain a new inside look.

With this project we identified that there is an increase in cultural consciousness amongst our schools students. The results between presurvey and the last survey undermine this.

Furthermore we have foreign teachers. Between 22 march and 25 April we decided to organize a day for “Cultural Awareness”. This period also equals to Easter. So we decided to make presentations, expositions, video shows in that day. We want to share this knowledge with our teachers.

We founded “Folklore Club” in our school. With “Folklore Dance Club and Gastronomy Club it’s planned to organize “ Folklore Night”. Finally to increase a cultural awareness, we prepared posters and made the school play Turkish music.
