FROM THE PRINCIPAL
INNOVATIVE LEARNING @THE RIDGE
At SRPS we are committed to providing students with a varietyof experiences in order to assist them in becomingself-directed, determined learners. Recently myself, Mrs Bryantand Mrs Sullivan have had the opportunity to witness theinnovation that is occurring in our classes on a daily basis.
Whether it is Miss Deal and 3D creating their own handwritingfonts to later use in Word publishing, Mrs Tocher and 1/2Tusing iMovie to create persuasive writing book trailers, MrsBeatriz and 5B using Google slides in small groups to createfigurative language presentations or Mrs Irwin and 1Bdemonstrating their amazing Math Busting skills, our teacherscontinue to focus on embedding 21st Century learning skills inall aspects of our teaching and learning programs.
With the introduction of Seesaw and parent feedback on howwonderful this tool is, we hope that you continue to enjoywitnessing the learning that is occurring and shared with you.
PARENT FEEDBACK
Thank you to all of our parents who took the time last term tocomplete a Survey on “how we are doing”. It was great to seethat 82% of you love our introduction of SeeSaw as a learningtool and that 50% or more of you use SeeSaw, Facebook, Meetthe teacher, Parent teacher interviews and school events toengage with the school. We especially loved hearing that 66%of parents rated our Office service 4 out of 5 for friendliness andthat 78% of you feel that we are following up on issues or at the
very least, you are provided with an opportunity to express yourconcerns.
We also take on board that you would like to see improvementswith the school’s electronic calendar, additional ways to speakwith teachers about your child’s progress, improvements tothe way in which contact can be made with the school after3.15pm and more opportunities to engage in learning aboutwhat we offer.
Please be reassured that we remain committed to improvingupon our service and that your feedback will drive the decisionsthat we make and the processes that we implement. Thank youagain for taking the time to give us this valuable feedback.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
Sherwood Ridge is well known for having students that wearfull school uniform on a daily basis and our school takes greatpride in this. Please be reminded that from Monday May 14our school changed from summer to winter uniform and thecontinuation of wearing full school uniform is an expectationat our school. Students are not permitted to wear colouredor patterned jackets/jumpers or coloured tights/leggings underdresses. Students are also encouraged to wear black shoes,keeping coloured sport shoes for sports days.
School approved uniforms can be purchased from our uniformsupplier, K-12. The SRPS Uniform Shop is located in the hallwith opening hours – Wednesday - 8.30am to 10.00am andFriday - 2.30pm to 3.30pm. It would be greatly appreciated ifparents could ensure that your child/children are in full schooluniform when coming to school each day. Thank you for yourcontinued support.
KISS AND DROP
Once again, it has been brought to my attention that a numberof parents and caregivers are forgetting how to use the Kiss andDrop zones located on Braemar and Rosebery Road in a safeway during the morning drop off. Please be reminded to;
• Move entirely into and to the extreme end of the bay,where possible, when entering the area.
1
Thank you again, to all of our parents who take their time andplan their arrival when bringing their children to school, yoursupport is greatly appreciated.
