St. Michael & Sacred Heart Catholic Parishes
Called - Nurtured - Sent To carry on the Mission of Christ
From Your Pastor
Happy New Year to all. I pray it is a blessed one for each of you. To begin the year with blessings I invite you to consider the series we are hosting at St. Michael Church “Consoling the Heart of Jesus” by Fr. Michael
Gately. The series will be 10 morning sessions. We have the books available for your purchase and pick-up at the entrances of the church. We will begin our series on Saturday January 20 after the morning Mass. It will be a real blessing for all who participate. Do not let the 10 Saturdays frighten you away. A prayer time, video presentation with sharing and goodies will be part of the morning and if you have to miss a session or two, the video presentations may be found on FORMED.
I will be leading the Men’s Cursillo weekend beginning on Thursday, January 26 to Sunday, January 29. The women’s Cursillo weekend is two weekends after, on February 8-11. The weekends are hosted at Blessed Sacrament Church in Chatham. Cursillo is a retreat format weekend, beginning with an evening of quiet reflection and devotion. Leaders will lead a series of sessions building on the considerations of: the world, who we are as Christians situated in this world, and how we can influence the world by our lives. There are talks about the gifts of faith and the Sacraments, and opportunities to celebrate the Sacraments. There is time for sharing and growing as a family and understanding what it means to live in community; and we much fun. Overall, it is a great weekend for everyone. For me I consider it one of the best weekends you can be part of, for it gives you a great follow-up of support for you to grow continually in your faith.
If you find there is something missing in your life and faith, then CURSILLO IS FOR YOU. It asks a sacrifice of an extra day (Friday) from you and your family, but all who has made a Cursillo weekend have never regretted it, but only give thanks to God for the life change it has offered them. Do not wait until the last minute to decide to join us, for there is much preparation that goes on to make a weekend happen. Let us know asap. There is limited space. Call the office and someone will contact you immediately to get you ready.
I ask now all Cursiestas to get to work inviting others to make the weekend and being a sponsor to a candidate.

Youth Leaders Needed for our Liturgy
of the Word with Children Program
We are in need of youth leaders (grade 5 and up) for our children’s program during the 9:00 & 11:00 Sun-day Masses at Sacred Heart Church and the 10:00 Mass at St. Michael Church. Please contact the parish office if you would like more information. Additional adult leaders are always welcome as well.
Do You Have a Child Approaching Sev-
en Years of Age Who Has Not Been
Baptized or Has Been Baptized in An-
other Faith?
Once a child reaches 7 years of age and has not been baptized, the Church requires that the child receive the three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation & Holy Communion) at the same time. If you have a child under 7 years of age, who has not been baptized, and you wish to follow the normative path of receiving the sacraments, please contact the parish office to make arrangements for baptism.
AAAA-CHOO!
Please remember to take your tissues with you when you leave mass so our church is all tidy for our next mass. Please replace hymn books, missals, etc. as
well. Thanks everyone!
Are You An Adult Who Has Not
Been Confirmed?
There are many adults who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation. If you wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation & complete your initiation into the Catholic faith, please contact the parish office.
Matthew Kelly’s Perfectly Yourself
