President’s Message Passiton!So,thisweekendIdrovetoTennesseewheremykidsgrewupandlive.Ihavetwogranddaughters,VictoriaandFiona,whoIhavebeenteaching,onandoff,howtosew.Victoriais27andallgrownup.Fionaisnow15½.Thehalfisimportanttoher.Anyway,FionamadeaquiltforthelastFPQGquiltshow.Shewasproudofheraccomplishmentandtheribbonshegot.Shewasintheyoungpeople’sgroup,upto15yearsold.ShegavethequiltasaChristmaspresenttohermuchyoungersisterwhowas4yearsoldatthetimeandloveshotpink.Therewassomehotpinkinthequilt.Littlesisterwasmuchimpressedwiththepresent.Especiallysince“Sissy”madeitforher.SomeweeksagoIaskedFionaifshewouldliketomakeanotherquiltforthenextquiltshowwehaveinApril.Sheimmediatelysaidyes.Thenshesaid:”CanIpleaseNOTbeinthelittlekids’groupthistime?CanIbeintheadultgroup?““Yes,Fiona”Isaid,“youcanbeintheadultgroupnow,youactuallycan’tbeinthekids’groupanymore.”“Oh,great!”shesaid.Oh,howthekidsalwayswanttogrowupsoquickly!Ididtoo.Buthowappropriatethatitshouldbethequiltinggroupthatfirstacceptsherasanadult!It’sbetterthanalotofotherchoices.So,thisweekendFionaandIspentsomequalitytimeonstartinganotherquilt.Shehadinheritedmyoldsingermachinewhenitwas25yearsold.Itwas30thissummerandbrokedown.Shegotaveryinexpensivenewonesoshecanstillsew.YearsagoItriedtogetmyowndaughterinterestedinsewingwhileshewasgrowingup,butshewouldhave noneofit.Shestillbringsmehermending!ButherdaughterVictoriaalsohasbeentaughthowtosewbyme,soIhavehadsomesuccess.Yeahh!WhenIthinkaboutthegoodtimesIhavehadwithbothofthem,andthefeelingofcompetencyandaccomplishmentthattheyhavegottenfromfinishingtheirprojects,thenIwanttosayto all momsandgrands,”Passiton!“Quiltingand sewingisagreatgiftforyoutogive.Andingivingyoureceive.SuzanneBrehm
