From this question you can see that more males responded in comparison to females. This
could result in a biased questionnaire in regards to the further questions. Stereotypically,
the results could show that the 39% of females prefer whilst the 61% of males prefer rock.
However, we cant rely on stereotypes, therefore the questionnaire might not be completely
biased.

From this question, it shows that there is a large proportion of the 16-20 age group from
who we questioned compared to the others. This may influence the final decisions in
regards to the music video. However, beforehand we had a specific target audience of
which we wanted to promote our music video to. Therefore, the other age groups may not
be as important, but we still wanted to have a broad idea of what age groups prefer.

From this question you can see that there is a mixtures of results with pop music taking23% to rock 14%. It shows that most people we asked preferred pop music (23%) which
suggest we should do a more upbeat mainstream song however with a 7% difference indie
music is the second most popular choice which suggest there is a split difference between
mainstream and independent music. This will influence are decision when making are video
as there is a mixed choice of types of music however it seems that the indie or pop route
would be the best type of music genre to go down.

4. Do you prefer mainstream or independent music?

Mainstream
IndependentThe way in which this question hasbeen answered shows that the
consensus is fairly narrow. 56% of
people prefer mainstream music to the
44% of people who favour independent
music. Because there was only 8%
between both answers we feel that it isnot an important decision to whether
we should pick a mainstream or
independent song.
We also asked the public why they preferred their chosen answer, with results explaining the
choice. Some of the audience explained that they enjoyed independent music because it wasmore personal, which could be beneficial to us because we want to use a meaningful and
powerful narrative that the audience can relate to. Others said that they listened to mainstream
music due to the fact that it was easily available and how it was promoted well in the charts.
This is was interesting to look upon, but doesnt necessarily help us because our primary focus
is the music video itself.

5. Whats your favourite song and why?
We asked this question because we wanted to
know what songs people related to and whatgenerally made it their favorite song. Lyrics are
important within this because we want to know
how we can correspond lyrics with the video
itself. From the results we received there are
older songs and newer songs, due to the fact we
asked a wide range of people from different agegroups. A general overview of the responses
depicts that the public enjoy listening to
passionate songs that are inspirational. We will
take this into consideration for when we are
choosing our song and creating our music video.

The basic information such as; age and gender could influence the different opinions.
Due to the biased respondents in which there are more males than females, and more 16-
20 year olds rather than other ages, this could heavily impact on the final consensus.

From this question, we can see that most people prefer Piano (39%) and Guitar (33%)
which is very narrow, indicating to us that our target audience dont mind which instrument
we choose within a song, as long as it includes either a guitar or a piano. This is important
as this is where we decide what song we decide to use. These are the results that we
intended to receive as most songs use a variety of instruments including the piano and
guitar, and we felt this would be the easiest to find a song for that suits the results of our
questionnaire.

No
From this question you can see that 83% of the people we questioned prefer to have
meaningful lyrics within a song which suggest that when we make our music video we
should definitely choose a song which can be related to and expressive lyrics. Eventhough are age group and gender is not equal to get a fair result the mass percentage of
people who preferred songs with meaningful lyric wipe out whether a particular age
group or gender said what they preferred which suggest that the majority of people from
all ages prefer songs with meaningful lyrics.

As a group we felt that this was one of the vital
questions that we needed answers for. This was
because the inspiration from other music videos is
something the we looked at in our first task. We
need to what other music videos are popular, so
wee can look at them and maybe take the positives
and include them in our own.
There is a range of answers from Tears Dont Fall Bullet For My Valentine to Need U
100% AME ft Duke Dumont, which are two completely different genres showing that the
audience are not dependable or niche. This may be a a negative thing as we conducted the
questionnaire to hopefully come to a final conclusion of what was popular, however the
answers varied and there was no clear idea of what was popular.

9. Do you prefer enthusiastic or cynical videos, and
why?
67%

Cynical
As a group we felt it vital to ask the question
in regards to enthusiastic and cynical videos.
The reasoning for this was to ultimately be
informed upon whether the majority enjoyed
uplifiting videos, or ones that were more
moving and would inflict a sorrowful attitude.
From the questionnaire we have observed that 67% of people prefer enthusiastic videos in
comparison to the 33% of people who would rather watch cynical videos. The audience who
opted for enthusiastic clarified this by saying that enthusiastic videos make them more excited
and are generally more fun to watch. Some of the respondents said that the decision depended on
their mood, as individuals may feel it appropriate to watch pessimistic videos so they are in touchwith their emotions. However we have concluded that we would prefer to inflict positive energy
upon our audience, which is why we have came to the conclusion of choosing to create an
uplifting video.

Simplistic
From this question, we can see that from
the people responding, they prefer quirky
videos (72%). This may be because they
prefer to see something different within
the videos that keeps their attention
throughout. 28% of people that responded
liked simplistic videos, showing that
although quirky is fun and exciting,
people clearly want something thats
interesting and simple.
Most of the comments which we received underneathh this question clearly displayed
peoples opinions on the subject. Most felt that although simplistic and quirky videos are
interesting, depending on their mood they might prefer either one. This shows that whenwe decide on a song and create a video for it, it might get positive or negative feedback
depending on the moods of our target audience.

22%
78%
2-3 minutes
3-4 minutes
From this question it shows that people expect music videos to be between 3-4 minutes
rather than 2-3 minutes. This will help us when making our music video as we are more
likely to choose a song that is between 3-4 minutes as 78% of people expect music videos
to be that long compared to the 22% of people who only said 2-3 minutes. This may not be
an accurate result however because songs may be longer or shorter than the time
restrictions we have given. However on average songs usually range between 2-4 minutes
which suggest that our results are more or less exact. Although we will never know if
people prefer songs nearer 3 minutes or 4 minutes therefore we might accidently makes
the music video too long.

12. Do you like a strong narrative within music
videos, and why?
72%
28%
Yes
No
This was a significant question before we
created the questionnaire, as we already
came to the decision that it was essential to
have a strong narrative, in order to make our
music video appealing. We were glad to see
that the majority (72%) of people enjoyedwatching music videos that had a strong
narrative to them.
When we asked the public why, they answered stating that music videos having narratives were
much easier to follow and that they were also engaging. The publics answers were cohesive with
ours, which was incredibly beneficial to us as a group because we already made the same
decision beforehand to include a strong narrative. We also analysed the reasoning for why people
may not have wanted a narrative, as 28% of people said no. Many of the replies that showed not
wanting a narrative came back with N/A for the explanation. We looked at this as further
explanation to why we should pick otherwise.

throughout the video, and why?
74%
26%
YesNo
From this question, we can see that 74% of people wont enjoy repetitive footage
compared to the 26% of people who didnt mind. From the feedback that we received, we
can see that repetitive footage isnt the way to go and that we shouldnt include it in the
final draft of our music video. This is because people find it irritating if repetitive footage
is used and people find it boring and dull. This question has enabled us to find out that
nobody enjoys repetitive footage, which ultimately has made us come to the decision that
repetitive footage will not be used.

14. Do you think miming is necessary in a music
video, and why?
56%
44% Yes
No
As you can see from this question you can see the results are very close with 56% of people
thinking miming is necessary in a music video to 44% of people saying it isnt. from these
results it suggest our group has a choice on whether we should mime in the music video since
the results are very close however our group is more likely to be influence by the 12%
difference and therefore mime in our music video.
