FILM POSTER RESEARCH
Here I have chosen some film posters that have been used for films that are already out.
The style of these posters I feel fits in well with the theme of our film and I aim to make something that ties in all of
the typical conventions of film posters.
- eye catching title, (and depending on the genre) bright, colourful, bold, stands out from the background
- persuasive language through the use of reviews or taglines to draw people in and make them want to see the
film
- promotional features like actors’ name, director, reviews etc
- possibly use the rule of thirds as a format to draw the viewers eye were you want it to be on the poster
- usually one predominant image
- important to correctly represent the genre of the film to attract the right audience
CONVENTIONS OF A FILM POSTER
I like the use of red in these posters as it connotes the danger, lust and love that you would expect to be in these films after viewing their posters.
I like the use of the lips on this poster and I think that this may be an idea I can bring in to my poster.
I think the set up for the red riding hood poster is good as it is simple and clean and draws you in. I will take ideas from this into my own poster.
I like the darkness in these posters as I creates an eary and dramatic feel to the posters. You know that these films are going to be thrillers by looking at the posters.
IDEAS FOR MY FILM POSTER
