FACILITY RENTALS
GENERAL D ISCL A IMERS FOR ALL RESERVAT IONS :Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made 48 (business) hours in advance. All reservations posted on the daily facility schedule will be invoiced. Please submit your cancellation in writing to the contact listed above.
DAMAGE TO FACILITIES/EQUIPMENT: Users must agree to clean up trash and spills that occur at the facilities. Any damage to the facility of its furnishings and/or equipment must be reported. The user will be responsible for costs of repair or replacement.
UNIVERSITY RECREATION SPORTS COMPLEX RESERVATIONS:The 9-acre sports complex is utilized by
the Intramural Sports and Club Sports programs for most outdoor activities.
Located at the intersect ion of Razorback Road and Mitchell Street, the complex hosts various act ivit ies
including: sand volleyball, horseshoes, f lag football, soccer, kickball, sof tball, ult imate frisbee, and much more.
The f ield is complete with electronic wireless scoreboards, concessions, and restroom facili t ies.

University Recreation opened a satell ite fitness center in the Arkansas Union in spring 2012.
The fitness facil ity is located on the second floor of the Arkansas Union. The facility features almost 6,000 square feet of fitness floor space, a 1,500-square-foot group exercise room, and men
and women’s locker and shower facil it ies. The facil ity is available to all current UREC members. Memberships may be purchased at either the UREC main office (HPER 225) or UREC Fitness Center Member Ser vices Desk.

New to the Donna Axum Fitness Center? Schedule a Fitness Center orientation. Fitness Center orientations are one-time sessions designed to introduce new users to the equipment available in the Fitness Center. A staff member will demonstrate how to properly use cardio machines and weight equipment and can answer specif ic exercise questions. Orientations are complimentar y. Prior to an orientation, par ticipants must register for an appointment by fill ing out the personal training registration packet in HPER 225 or online at urec.uark.edu.
• Food and gum are prohibited in the fitness center.

Non-Credit Instruction offers not-for-credit courses that emphasize learning and are designed to develop skills and interests in leisure, recreation or wellness activities. Registration for Non-Credit Instruction is done in person in HPER 225.

Massage Therapy: Deep tissue and hot stone techniques available. Cost: $20 for ½ hour, $40 for 1 hour. For availabil ity and appointments, please call 575-4646, or visit the UREC Main office in HPER 225. Par ticipants must be UREC members to purchase massage services.
Traveling Trainer: Support the health and wellness of your group with various exercise, wellness, and nutrition topics. The services listed below can be brought to your office or organization and can be utilized for a variety of group sizes. To schedule your Traveling Trainer session, visit our website (http://urec.uark.edu/7966.htm) and fill out our online request form.
Group Exercise Classes: Yoga, PiYo, Body Sculpt, Zumba, Turbokick. $35 per class.
Health/Wellness Assessments: Blood pressure, body composition, and cardiovascular fitness measured at your location.
CPR, First Aid, AED: Hold these life-saving classes at the convenience of your own office. Modules include Adult CPR, Infant/Child CPR, First Aid, and AED. $55/person for each module. $10/person for each additional module (minimum of six par ticipants)

Healthy Cooking Demo: Learn how to make healthy substitutions in your cooking as well as recipes that are good for your body. This class will provide you with nutrition education, recipe samples, and brochures. Class Date: Thursday, October 10th, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Wellness Workshops: Fit one of these short workshops into a staff meeting: Exercises that can be done in your office, incorporating more activity into your day, tips for healthful eating, or setting up a walking program. Workshops are complimentary.
Office Training Sessions: On-site workouts for your group. Ideas include “Desk-ercise”, “Making Time for Your Health”, and “Free Apps to Improve Your Health and Fitness”.

INDIVIDUALIZED YOGA, PILATES, OR STRETCHING SESSIONS: For a different twist on “personal training”, clients may choose non-traditional workouts for additional options related to flexibility, balance, strength, and breathing. Pricing is the same as Individualized Fitness Sessions.
NUTRITION ASSESSMENTS: Participants receive an initial fitness assessment, then record food logs and discuss them with UREC staff during a follow-up visit.

FITNESS ASSESSMENTS: Fitness assessments address health-related concerns and set forth goals to start new exercise programs. The following software is used to perform fitness assessments:
Microfit: Tests seven dimensions of fitness including weight, heart rate, blood pressure, body composition, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility.Korr Meta-Check: This metabolic testing software measures resting metabolic rate, caloric output based on lifestyle and daily activity, and energy/calorie expenditure. This assessment is useful in determining an individual’s unique caloric needs and nutrition planning.

GROUPFITNESS
Group Fitness classes are instructor-led classes set to music that focus on various f i tness components such as core strength or cardiovascular endurance. University of Arkansas students, faculty, and staff are eligible to take Group Fitness classes at no addit ional cost with a valid UREC membership. All classes are available on a drop-in basis. Registrat ion is required once per year, and can be completed at the class locat ion. Check the Fall 2013 Group Fitness Schedule for all class dates and times.

Group Fitness online class reservations: Beginning on Sunday, August 25th, 2013, University Recreation will host selected Group Fitness class reservations online. Spots for our more popular classes will be available online prior to class. If the class you wish to take appears on this list, online reservations are required. UA Fac/Staff FIT: UREC encourages U of A faculty/staff to become more active by offering a weekly fitness class just for faculty/staff. Classes will take place at the UREC Fitness Center in the Arkansas Union on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. during the Fall 2013 semester (see specific class schedule at urec.uark.edu). A UREC membership is NOT required to participate! Simply bring your U of A ID, a towel, water bottle, comfortable exercise apparel, and non-marking shoes. Free locker storage for valuables is provided.
Fall into Fitness: Body Composit ion screenings: Learn your ratio of lean body mass to fat body mass. A body composition screening is the best way to determine if health goals are being achieved or if adjustments should be made to an individual’s nutrition or exercise program. Free screenings offered by the UREC certified personal training staff every Monday, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. during the fall semester. Cost: FREE

Meet a Trainer: Create a Workout: Sign up for a 15 minute one-on-one consultation with a UREC personal trainer. Par ticipants will receive an individualized workout plan to help them reach their personal fitness goals. All par ticipants will fill out a health questionnaire prior to their appointment. Day/Time: Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 17th and 18th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sign up at the UREC Main Office, HPER 225, to reserve your 15 minute appointment and pick up the health questionnaire. FITNESS CERTIFICATIONSACE PERSONAL TRAINER PREPARATION COURSE This eight week course provides curriculum and materials designed to prepare participants to take the ACE Personal Trainer exam. The Prep Course does not certify individuals as personal trainers or guarantee employment with UREC. Individuals wishing to become certified personal trainers must register separately for an ACE Personal Trainer certification exam at www.acefitness.org.

Intramural Sports is a great way to keep in touch with your athletic roots while on campus. Create a team full of friends or join as a free agent for any of our sports including flag football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, bowling, dodgeball, sand volleyball, softball, and many more. Leagues and tournaments are offered for men, women, and co-recreational teams.

a profile, you are free to register for any league or tournament sport as soon as the registration period is open.
Intramural sports has plenty of job opportunities for officials and scorekeepers. No prior officiating experience is necessary. FUSED Program The FUSED program assists groups in communication skills, team building, leadership development, trust and confl ict resolution. Whether it ’s a teambuilding activity at the cl imbing wall or a float trip on a river, the OCC strives to provide a positive growth experience for any group.
Bouldering WallHPER 102Open during Outdoor Connection Center operating hours, the Bouldering Wall helps par ticipants focus on strength, technique and grace. Par ticipants must be at least 15 years of age. The Bouldering Wall is open to students and UREC members.

POOL INFORMATION:
The aquatics program supports many different activities, including open recreation times for UREC members and guests, instructional programs, kayak polo and clinics,
group exercise classes, birthday parties, academic classes, athletic swimming and diving practices, swim meets and more! Aquatics equipment including aqua joggers, paddles, buoys, and kick boards are available on the pool deck for members’ to use during open swim times.
• Lap lane area is six to seven feet deep.
• Shallow area is four to five feet deep.
• Diving well is 14 to 17 feet deep.
• Water temperature is 81 degrees Fahrenheit.

Informal Recreation promotes diverse social, recreational, and wellness opportunities through unstructured, voluntary use of the recreation facilities. The program is designed to provide members and guests with a wide range of recreational pursuits during operating hours at their leisure for fitness and fun. Informal recreation includes, but is not limited to: basketball, volleyball, racquetball, badminton, swimming, running, weight lif ting, table tennis and climbing on a first come, first serve basis during operating hours. University Recreation is one of the largest student employers at the University of Arkansas. We employ over 300 students each year. Our employees do it all, from serving as lifeguards at the pool to refereeing intramural sports games.
University Recreation offers two interview sessions per year, one in late fall and the other in late spring.
