“The Mechanical EngineeringDepartment strives to berecognized globally foroutstanding education andresearch leading to well-qualified engineers, who areinnovative, entrepreneurial andsuccessful in advanced fields ofengineering and research”
Imparting quality education to the students and enhancingtheir skills to make them globally competitive mechanicalengineers.
Maintaining vital, state-of-the-art research facilities toprovide its students and faculty with opportunities to create,interpret, apply and disseminate knowledge.
To develop linkages with world class R&D organizationsand educational institutions in India and abroad forexcellence in teaching, research and consultancy practices.
Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest branchesof engineering. It is also referred to as the ‘mother’branch of engineering. Another appealing feature ofmechanical engineering is that the application base ofthis field of study is extremely broad and diverse.Almost all inventions during the ancient period and avast majority in the modern era are direct contributionsof one another application.

Project work is carried out by the studentbatches under the supervision of faculty.
Project evaluation is made by DepartmentProject Review Committee.
The student batches are supposed to selectproject titles given by faculty members.
The evaluation is based on analysis, design,modeling, implementation and testing of theproject.
In first semester the project batch is expectedto present analysis and design of the project.
During the second semester they are supposedto implement and test the project.
Course allotment The courses are allotted based on faculty
interest and expertise The respective faculty has to frame the
course objectives and outcomesCourse fileMaintenance of course file is mandatory for
all courses Course file includes course syllabi, lecture
schedule, previous external papers, tutoriallist, assignments list, lecture notes andcontent beyond syllabi.
Class room teachingThe teaching processincludes conventional teaching, Powerpoint presentations, NPTEL classes.
Tutorials Exercise and application problems will
be solved Each tutorial is conducted by two
faculty members Assignments Chapter or week wise assignments will
be given Assignments will be immediatelySeminars Few topics are distributed among
students for presentationsContent Beyond the Syllabus To Expose Real time applications, few
add on topics will be demonstrated
workshop conduct List of programs will be practiced
along with additional exercises. Continuous evaluation in
laboratories which include viva-voceand records evaluation in eachsession.
Remedial /Makeup classes Remedial classes will be conducted
to cover add on topics and to revisetopics
Make up classes will be conducted tostudents who need more assistance.
Each course outcomes will be assessed continuously by usingfollowing actions
Assignment performance Tutorials performance Continuous evaluation in labs Mid-term exam performance Conduct meeting twice in a semester
In order to evaluate POs based on a rubric, the individualcourses to which the corresponding PO is mapped will beevaluated on the following scale parameters.
Unsatisfactory : < 40%
Developing : >=40% to <60%
Satisfactory : >=60% to <75%
Exemplary : >75%
Eventually the POs will be evaluated using the average of eachparameter score of course outcomes to which it is mapped andthe resultant average will be graded on same scale.
The curriculum of Mechanical Engineering is designed by the MD University, Rohtak,
