Exporting Goal Summary Data

Open WinScan Select the test you wish

to export data for. Under the data menu,

select export means or goals.

Export as a tab delimited file.

Name the file Use grade level and

subject area

Choose all files to include all data for LEA calculations.

Select OK

select close. Select yes, when asked

to choose a different break variable.

Select LEASchCode to export overall goal summary information for each school.

To export the number of students at each achievement level and the percent proficient, select export achievement level counts from data menu.

wish to export data for. Follow the same process

as before. Exporting variables in the

same order as was done for goals/objectives will make merging of the files easier.

Open tab delimited files in Excel and merge.

Under test menu, select create “user-defined’ variables.

When prompted select the range and width of your variable.

Select Quit and Save – the new variable will show at the bottom of the variables list to export from.

discrepancy between their data for each subgroup and the overall county data.

Goal Summary by Teacher Code Allows teachers to

identify strengths and weaknesses between classes.

Caution in using Goal Summary Data A goal summary report provides only a general picture of the

achievement for the group of students due to the varying difficulty of questions across objectives.

Consider the variation in the number of students. Small numbers of students may not have data for all areas depending on the forms of the test given in the group.

When looking at teacher goal summary reports, consider the types of students in that teacher’s class (example – teacher teaching AIG students vs. teacher teaching EC students). Look for trends in the data
