Connecting the iPod
• Connect iPod to computer to download music, video,photos, and files, and to charge your battery.
• 1. Plug cable into a high-power USB port on yourcomputer, and 2. then connect to iPod.
• By default, the iPod imports songs automaticallywhen you connect to your computer. When thisauto download is done, you can disconnect iPod.

• iTunes is the software you will use on yourcomputer.
• If your computer doesn’t have iTunes you will needto install it.- CD- download at
www.apple.com
• When you connect youriPod, iTunes opensautomatically.

iPod Knows Home! Connecting to another computer?
• If you connect your iPod to a differentcomputer that is set to update songsautomatically...
• iTunes prompts you before downloadingany music. If you click Yes, your iPod willbe erased and replaced with the songsand other audio files on the differentcomputer.

Disconnecting iPod
• You can see if it’s OK to disconnect iPod by looking atthe iPod screen.
• IMPORTANT: Do not disconnect iPod if you see“Do not disconnect” message. You could damage files.
• If you see this message you must eject iPod in iTunes.

• Click the Eject button next to iPod in the iTunes
• If Mac, you can also eject iPod by dragging the iPod on
desktop to the Trash.
• If Windows PC, you can eject iPod by clicking Safely

About the Battery
• The iPod battery is 80-percent charged in about twohours and fully charged in about 4 hours.
• TIP: For optimal battery life, use your iPod and be sure togo through at least one charge cycle a month.
