. . . . . . . From School to Home
2018 Term 2 Week 7
Dear Parents
Every Friday...... let’s get ready to play water & sand
This fun outdoor activity provides many opportunities for the holistic development of children.
As they engage in play, they develop crucial social skills
such as verbal communication, sharing and taking turns.
Playing with sand and water involves digging, scooping, pouring and building.
These actions promote the development of their gross and fine motor skills.
Cognitive skills can also be developed as the children observe, compare and engage in imaginative play.
Do encourage your child to come early to school on Fridays for this fun activity! (please ensure that they have a set of extra clothes and towel in their bags)

Fun & Movement
Mass Activity
The children gathered in a circle with every alternate child facing outwards.
Balls were passed down from one child to the next.
Standing with feet firmly on the ground, the children learned to twist their upper body to pass and receive the
ball.
301 Upper Paya Lebar Road S(534934) Tel:6287 1209 Fax:6287 7980 Page 13
They were then divided into 4 groups.
Standing in a line with every alternate child facing in the opposite direction.
The children would have to twist in a greater angle to pass and receive the ball.
The last person will run to the front with the ball and continue the cycle.
Going under!!
Passing the ball to the friend behind without letting the ball touch the ground!
301 Upper Paya Lebar Road S(534934) Tel:6287 1209 Fax:6287 7980 Page 14
The children had to be aware of where the ball is to receive and pass the ball.
Love 1
The Love 1 children began with some stretching exercises!
The Banana!
Lying supine on the floor… lifting their legs up…
Then bringing their straightened arms up in attempt to meet one another!
301 Upper Paya Lebar Road S(534934) Tel:6287 1209 Fax:6287 7980 Page 15
The Superman!
Lying down with their tummies on the floor… lifting their feet up from the floor…
Then bringing their arms up from the floor and do a superman action!
This was a little more challenging for the little ones.
Practising and cultivating their ball manipulation as roll the ball to one another.
301 Upper Paya Lebar Road S(534934) Tel:6287 1209 Fax:6287 7980 Page 16
Locomotor Skill – running!
The Love 1 children played the game of ‘Duck, duck, goose’!
Lifting up their hula cars and standing up without the hands touching the floor!
301 Upper Paya Lebar Road S(534934) Tel:6287 1209 Fax:6287 7980 Page 17
Learning spatial awareness.
In their little hula-cars, the children moved around the room, learning to avoid hitting another car as the walk,
run, and jump around!
Love 2
The Love 2 children reinforced their rolling skills as the learn to call out their friend’s name and roll the ball
to them!
Some of them are still not familiar with their friend’s names! Oh dear…
Ball manipulation skill: Bounce and catch
301 Upper Paya Lebar Road S(534934) Tel:6287 1209 Fax:6287 7980 Page 18
The children continue to learn the skill of bouncing the ball.
In this activity, the Love 2 children attempted to bounce the ball to their friend, for the other to catch.
As this skill is relatively new to the children, more practices and exposure will be required to enable them and
develop their skills.
Joy & Peace
The Joy & Peace children learned the skill pass a ball to their friends using a chest pass.
With the ball in hand, they were tasked to jump over the blocks and step into the hoop on the other end.
In the hoop, they would then use a chest pass to pass the ball to their friends while the other tries to catch
the ball.
301 Upper Paya Lebar Road S(534934) Tel:6287 1209 Fax:6287 7980 Page 19
The children were reminded to start the ball from their chest and push it outwards towards their target.
Those receiving the ball had to be ready, keeping their hands out from the chest with pointed up and spread
comfortably.
301 Upper Paya Lebar Road S(534934) Tel:6287 1209 Fax:6287 7980 Page 20
The children were then divided into 2 groups, facing each other.
They would then use a chest pass to pass the ball to the friend opposite them, and run to the end of the line.
