Effingham Public Library: A catalyst for positive action

After many conversations with you and the rest of our community, we are pleased to unveil our 5 strategic areas:

Safety These are the words that continued to come up again and again in our conversations with you. We will be crafting events and opportunities to be a catalyst for positive action in these areas. If you have ideas, we'd love to hear them! We are excited to engage even more with the community and help make connections that allow our community to flourish!

The library has received a grant from the Koboldt Trust to purchase hotspots for the library. These mobile hotspots allow you to connect a phone, tablet or other

device to wi-fi to access the internet.

Hotspots can be used by everyone wherever you go! New in town and don't have the internet hooked up? Going camping in the middle of no where and need to check your email? Job searching at night and unable to pay for wi-fi? School research paper? Try a hotspot! Check out the hostpots for 14 days and renew them 3 times if no one is waiting!

Uncorked at the Village Wine Store The Dry by Jane Harper Monday, October 30 at 7 p.m. A small town hides big secrets in The Dry, an atmospheric, page-turning debut mystery by award-winning author Jane Harper. Copies will be available for check out at the Check Out Desk at the library. Registration Required.

The US Department of Homeland Security has named October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

On Thursday, October 5 at Noon SDS Computers will present a program outlining some simple steps for online safety.

On Thursday October 26 at Noon SDS technicians will walk users through several free and readily available programs that anyone can install and use to help keep their computers working their best.

The Great Leaf Hunt!
