Evaluation

This is my music video final edit; my chosen song was Bakermat- One Day. The strengths for my project I think are the contrasts of colours that were featured; these were not edited but were how we filmed the scene. I decided to make no changes to the contrast as I felt they were very strong and helped with the mood of the song.

Secondly, another strength that I feel makes the music video effective is how the footage smoothly moves to the next without any transitions. I decided not to use any effects to do this as I felt it wouldn’t have helped make my music video effective and I don’t think that these transitions would have matched the song. Lastly, an additional strength would be the order of the video footage; I think the placement works really well and tells a story.

One of the effects I decided to use was the mirror effect; I chose this as I felt that with the song being in the deep house genre this transition went very well with it. Another reason I chose this was because it shown who the camera was focusing on and clearly shown you what the protagonists were doing.

Another effect I used was slow motion; I decided to use this effect as I felt it would be most effective and would clearly show what the protagonists were clearly doing. Another reason I chose this effect was because even though the song falls under the genre of deep house it also includes jazz. Where this was played I activated the slow motion effect because I feel like it portrays the protagonists dancing to the music.

However, I feel one of my weaknesses for my music video would be that I didn’t include a lot of effects. one effect that I was interested in including would have been to rewind a piece of footage, but I feared that this effect did not help make the video effective as I didn’t think it would have matched the genre of the song.
