IntroductionThe Kiran MK-II aircraft is used for Jet aircraft
training by Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.18 nos. of 68 mm rockets are fitted in rocket pods on
both wings of aircraft.Solid State Distributor (SSD) unit is used for
controlling the rate of firing and provides the short circuit and open circuit protection.
SSD unit is unserviceable for a long time.SSD unit was designed by ADE, Banglore and
manufactured by Integral Systems, Bangalore in 1985.
Objective: To design and develop the new Control card PCB for Solid State Distributor unit of rocket pod of the Kiran MK-II aircraft and associated Test Rig.
Scope of work:
Design and Development of the PCB for solid state distributor.
Development of the Test Jig.
Environmental Testing.
Ground and Flight trials.
Photographs of SSD unit…
SSD UnitThis is a solid state unit capable of firing rockets
in controlled salvos of 1,3,6,9 and 18.
The time interval between firing of two consecutive rockets in any salvo is kept constant at 33+3 msec
Firing rate is 1600 rocket/minute.
This distributor is provided with protection against open circuited and short circuited rockets in the pod without affecting the sequence of firing.
