a set of achievements, - skills, understandings and personal attributes – that make graduates more likely to gain employment and be successful in their chosen occupations, which benefits themselves, the workforce, the community and the economy (HEA, 2012).
• The skills come under the following categories:
• behavioural – enthusiasm, adaptability, resilience, thoroughness
• functional – literacy, language, numeracy, able to use ICT
• intellectual – planning, problem-solving, self management, organising own learning
• work-related – team-working, time management, customer service, consistency, reliability
Business and customer awareness – business success, innovation and taking calculated risks, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.
Problem solving – analysing facts, creative thinking to develop solutions.
Communication and literacy – ability to produce clear, structured written work and listening and questioning.
Application of numeracy – general mathematical awareness and its application in practical contexts
Application of information technology – basic IT skills, word processing, spreadsheets, file management and use of internet search engines.
A positive attitude: a ‘can-do’ approach, new ideas and a drive to make these happen.
Entrepreneurship/enterprise: broadly, an ability to demonstrate an innovative approach, creativity, collaboration and risk taking. (CBI 2011)

Students provided the Board of Lancashire Probation Trust the opportunity to dispel the myths around “Community Payback” and community justice approaches generally
Beetham (2010) suggests that “the vast majority of graduate jobs require use of ICT….. an ever-more significant element of employability.”
