Eastern Regional Station, ICAR-IVRI Organized Chick Distribution and Animal Health
Awareness Programme for Scheduled Caste Beneficiaries of Bongaon block, West Bengal
under SCSP
The ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Eastern Regional Station (ERS), Kolkata
organized a ‘Chick Distribution and Animal Health Awareness Programme’ at Dighari village
under Dighari Gram Panchayat on 6th
July 2020. The programme was conducted under
Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) scheme for the year 2020-21.
A total of 25 woman beneficiaries belonging to scheduled caste community from Nishchintapur
village participated in the programme. Dr. Bimalendu Mondal, Principal Scientist and Dr. G. K.

ordinated the programme. The
main aim of the programme was to
highlight the SCSP scheme in
general and make the beneficiaries
aware about the various animal
husbandry practices as well as
animal health and also to promote
goat, pig, poultry, duck and quail
farming as livelihood opportunities through selling of produced animal protein for income
generation and house hold
consumption. Dr. Bimalendu Mondal,

program briefed the audience about
the history of ICAR-IVRI and the
contribution made by the prestigious
Institute for animal health through the
development of various vaccines and
veterinary biologicals etc. He also
detailed about the activities of Eastern
Regional Station of ICAR-IVRI. Dr.

scheme briefed about plan for
development of scheduled caste
community of Dighari GP, Bongaon
block for the year 2020-21, and the
services rendered by the prestigious
organization, the ICAR-IVRI for
societal development during 2019-20
through various community developmental programmes /schemes.

A total of 380 day-old chicks (Haringhata Black), 250 Kg starter feed, supplements like
vitamins, minerals, immune modulators, liver extracts, anthelmintics etc, poultry feeder and
chick drinker, mask, cap and hand sanitizer were distributed among the beneficiaries
